Philosophy section?

Although I would most likely not participate in this section too often, I think it would be a very interesting area to add. I would likely find myself reading more posts than making actual posts though.
All the same, I'm in favor of this.

I figured people were going to say ROTW but that section only *really* seems to prominently feature nihilism. I can see the similarities though, possibly it could be a subforum?

My immediate thought was ROTW, I'm not sure that a separate section would get enough threads.

If there were a significant amount of people who would like to discuss philosophy and such, sure. It's definitely an interesting topic and with the right posts, many people unknown to the subject could really get into it. But that depends on if there a surplus of posts and if it's warranted.

Agreed with Origami I would most likely be a reader of the posts but it would be a great way to boost intellect on this site for those who are interested. That said, I don't see a section being erected for the sole aim, Administrators will likely say that ROTW is a good enough section for such discussions.

I don't really think it's necessary as we already have ROTW that covers generally any debate, so I don't think it would it's needed. Then there would be threads moved to that section. ROTW would have to be a new description or re-named since there would be a "new" section. What exactly would be the point of this separate section when there's already a section that covers all areas of debate. I don't support this idea.

Taken from Govteen forums. I like the idea. If ROTW does get too big to manage breaking it up would be the way to go.

I just don't really find that necessary here. Especially since there isn't many threads showing that I've seen that really require it. Or need to have separate sections for debate. I think that having one general forum should be sufficient enough.

I think the reason why there aren't that many threads posted about it is because people feel like there is no place to put it. Not all philosophy discussions (not debates) can fit into ROTW.

A place to debate and discuss your ideas.
I don't know man, I think this description is pretty broad and the contents and threads in the forum are pretty obvious that any debate goes. Including philosophy. So I must not understand what you're saying because I think that description is generally to debate and discuss ideas so that pretty much covers philosophy :P

It could be used, to not clog up ROTW as much. You can have sticky's such as
What is Philosophy, Different Philosophies and then people can post discussions about their philosphical views.
Just an idea :D

But instead make it more confusing for the newer people who want to debate by them making threads in the wrong place, then the fact that other branches of ROTW would be requested and that wouldn't happen.
ROTW isn't clogged up, that would be like saying "Let's make a separate Puberty for Boys section because it's getting to overflowed" It's a general section for any kind of debate regardless. Stickies can be made in the section and replace the old ones. I don't think it's really needed to have another section which really isn't needed.

philosophy is no fun though and people that are philosophers waste their time trying to think for a solution for everything....... i say let life be a mystery and have fun... not trying to have an explanation of everything.....

To be frank, I don't really think it's necessary. I've said it before, but I guess it didn't really click, if we were to add this philosophy section, then ROTW would then be a separate category or we'd just have to branch off and we'd then have requests for other sections of debate. And the things is; we already do have a section for debate of all kinds for one section, it really isn't necessary since we do have a general section for it.

Good job giving the finger to a load of intelligent thinkers who've questioned morality, beliefs and thoughts. Philosophers have been known to influence how people think and make decisions and saying what you've just said is just dumb.

Oh wow - I will never philosophise again!
On a less ridiculous note, how about the subject matter of ROTW is changed rather than we get a new forum? Broaden it from just debates and let it cover the entire spectrum of intelligent thinking. Oh wait, it already is. /thread

I think what's failing to be made clear is the fact that this forum wouldn't be for debate. There's a big difference between discussing philosophy and debating it.

And that really doesn't help that either. It would then probably be made into a separate section which wouldn't happen. If it was branched out from ROTW it would then demand other sections which won't happen. It's just a waterfall of "No." sorry to say, but I just don't think this is needed or is going to happen.

Looks like I'll never be able to discuss it then. I love philosophy, just not when I'm getting my views ground up and spat upon like they do in ROTW. Debate is great, only when it's clean though, which it never is here :/ Never as it's own section, but I'd like to see just another place other than a misc forum and a debate forum where things could be purely discussed. I guess no is no though.

Why? Why is religion not a broad enough, diverse enough, demanded enough topic to have a section when there's no other place to discuss it, and don't say ROTW, because debate isn't a discussion. You should be able to make a post where a response isn't required, and without getting the customary "You believe in god, ergo you're wrong", or "That would require a god so no" responses.

To everyone that wanted this thread:
I put in a request for a diary last night. Whenever I make the diary, I will add a Philosophy Section, into it for everyone (and also me of course:D). Oh, and I will take suggestions over how you would like it organized, if you may.

It's not all about Philosophy, it's just I like it and since we're not getting a thread, I figured I could combine it with my diary.

Well it looks like Socko got into the groove. He's going to be making a diary. Religion isn't wildly demanded and neither is philosophy, make a diary for it. Put it in TWPR. Discussion can be had in those ways and for debates goes in ROTW :P It doesn't need a sub forum.
