I have two questions.
One: I really would like to be "popular." I can really see myself as a person that everyone knows and talks to, with many good friends as well. I say hi to people I know in the hallways, but I think I lack the leadership and the ability to approach others and be quickly and easily liked.

Two: I have a super awesome friend who won't join Facebook.

The answer to your first question, don't be shy. Talk to people that are in your class. Talk to people that you see everyday. Just saying Hello isn't enough. Talk about a TV show you just saw. Or talk about a class you are having trouble in.

Join a club. Many schools have clubs that you can join. That's a good way of meeting new people. Introduce yourself to classmates, or go into the library and talk about a subject, math, history, with someone. I'm sure you'll do fine.

The answer to your second question; It's your friends choice whether or not they want to be on facebook. You can't really force anyone to be on it. Some people don't like social networking sites, and they have their reasons, so you just have to leave it at that. You never know, one day they might join facebook, but for right now, you have to respect their decision.
