Wow. I mean, they're only the most entry level indie band out there. People are seriously that fucking dumb? It's stupid how people think if it's not on the radio it sucks or if they haven't heard it before it sucks. Doesn't that mean all future pop songs they haven't listened to suck, even though they'll probably like them once they're released? That's quite hypocritical. Also, this is when I prove to you all how closed minded people really are about music. Some people think I'm joking about when I say people will just not listen to anything that isn't played on the radio or sounds a teeny bit different from the norm, but this just proves it so much more.

Hell, I don't love Arcade Fire, nor did I think The Suburbs was the best album of 2010, but they sure did deserve the grammy's compared to the albums that they were up against. Calling something garbage when you haven't heard of it nor listened to it not only is fucking stupid, but makes the person saying that a dipshit bigot.

This is what I was thinking when I was on facebook last night - my news feed was clogged up with a hundred "Who the fuck are Arcade Fire? They're so retarded." statuses.

I'd already heard of them at least 5 years ago, and I always thought they were a popular band. I'm definitely not keen on them, but when I see people who judge music just because they've "never heard of it" or "no one else listens to that" it really aggravates me to the point where I think society really is brainwashed and dominated by pop music.

This is extra fail considering Arcade fire is one of the most overhyped and overrated indie groups out there. That being said, they're not terrible and the album is good compared to the other nominees(beiber, katie perry, eminem, gaga etc)...I don't mind them winning.

People get all butt-hurt when someone they've never heard of wins something over the popular ones. It's life for you. I guess it goes to show that for once, the Grammy's made a semi-wise decision. They didn't just choose the over-played, popular, shitty music. Arcade Fire (from what I've heard) is much better than any other nominee who was on the list.

I do agree with you, but I can't say this surprised me at all. People are sheep. Corporate whores. It's proven day after day (after day). Honestly, I just don't feel the rage anymore – I'm numb to it; I've accepted the fact that almost everyone around me is a mindless whore to mainstream culture, overly comfortable in a world they consider 'normal,' where uniformity is key to popularity and being independent is 'weird'.

Independence is more hated these days than it ever has been.

Teens at least are used to the Teen Choice Awards and shit, where artists like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber are certain to win because they give out their awards based on popular vote, not on music quality. Pro award shows are a bit better about that, not much, but slightly. They've got just a bit more sense to judge it based on the artists themselves instead of letting the country vote. I still think those judges need better taste in music. Though Arcade Fire is The Beatles compared to the other shit imho. I hate their recent album, but I hate the other music more.

White sheep will do exactly what is dictated to them. One of them might like Lady Gaga over Justin Bieber, a few discrepancies, but they will do what they're told to, like what they're told to. The media is almost as brainwashing as the government, though still more controlling probably.
