I need ideas for a storyline. My teacher is making us write a play for this contest. I would like the main focus of the storyline to be a schizophrenic guy and a cat, but the cat ends up not being real. Any ideas?

this guy goes about his day buying the cat food and things, people find it strange because he doesn't have a cat but say nothing, then the cat brings another cat home because it's lonely, then both cats go missing, and he goes out looking for them, through this people call the doctors and it becomes apparant they weren't real
