View Full Version : Gender Identity Confusion

Ok so I know this isn't a sexuality thing, didn't really know where to put it. Let me start this off my saying that I do not have a good memory whatsoever of my childhood (especially when it comes to sexuality and gender identity!). I am a 16 year old boy and lately I have been pondering if I would be happier living as a girl. I'm really not sure if I felt this way as a kid though! This isn't an easy question for me to answer, because I feel that there are certain things that I like about being a boy, but more things that if I had the choice, I would feminize without a second thought. For example, I would love to have a more feminine appearance, voice, maybe breasts, not sure if I would like to be 100% female though. On that note, can anyone give me even slight advice on how to get a prescription of Estrogen supplements from a doctor? I have already came out as gay to my mom so it might be hard to say "Hey mom can I take estrogen?". Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks for reading.

You might be classified as transgendered. You were born a sex that you don't want to live as, and you prefer to be the other. Lots of people are. But you say you don't want to be 100% female. That puzzles me, as usually transgendered people, want to be the complete gender, and go through surgery to complete the process.
Have you spoke to a counselor about this, or a psychologist? Have you spoken with you mother about taking estrogen, and things like that. I'm pretty sure that she wouldn't be ok with you doing these things behind her back. So maybe you should talk to her, about those sorts of things.

Little help here, soz, but:
I've got a similar confusion, actually. Except reversed. I'm a late teen girl who wonders if I wouldn't be happier as a guy. But I don't really want to physically change everything.
If anyone has any help on sorting out this confusion, please preply!

Transgender does not mean full sex change.
look androgyny, third gender, and gender queer.

I'm familiar with androgyny, not so much with 3rd gender and genderqueer. Those seem more fitting for me though, definetly will do more research. Thanks!
