Measuring properly

I dont think I am measuring my penis properly. Which way is right? I always used to put a ruler on the side of my penis and put it all the way back, and I measured 5.5 inches. Then I looked up recently how to measure, and it said to put a ruler ontop of your penis and against your stomach, and I measured 4 inches.

Which way is right, or if none, how do you?

The correct way to measure is along the top. Along the side or underneath will produce a bigger answer but if you want to compare honestly it has to be along the top.
