Sell it on eBay.

Buy a real laptop.

Personally, if you have to have a Mac you should have gotten a newer one since iBook were discontinued in 2006 and have outdated hardware which may be your issue. Perhaps buying a PC would have been a better cost since you can find several that cheaper than any Mac.

Repartition the hard disk, and install another operating system - Windows or Linux being the two most probable contenders.

All Macs sold nowadays are just x86 computers with OSX pre-installed and a few iGadgetery, so you should have no trouble getting rid of the software limits.

EDIT: ok, I didn't notice it was an iBook (those were PPC-powered)... Forget Windows, then. Linux is still an option, though.

This has nothing to do with the quality of apple computers and everything to do with the ancientness of the computer you're on. I agree with the above. If the box is salvageable, I'd run Linux on it. You'll make the most of the hardware you have with Linux on there.

Linux is a deafault OS for Apple, right?

I'd love to know how you can 'do' youtube. Fascinating.

But mm, as has been said, try to sell it on eBay and get yourself a machine that will do what you want it to.

(Wtf, MY Facebook app randomly opened up) -__- But, I doubt my mom would let me exchange it. My "dad" spent 900$ on it on Ebay. The reason for the expensiveness is because it is refurbished. I hate the machine. I'm not really good with that tech stuff though! >.<

MacBooks are only good for music & media related activities, so I'd scrap the iBook and go back to PC tbh.

i have an ibook g4 and i fucking love it. it does everything i need. i got it in late 2009 on ebay for 400 dollars

youtube works for me. its the browser you are probably using. dont use safari on the ibook, its soo slow, same for firefox. thats just my opinion. use camino or TenFourFox (im using TenFourFox as im typing this)

you can get a bunch of games for the ibook g4, such as Doom 3, roller coaster tycoon 3, world of warcraft, etc. just do some research on games. i use photoshop cs3, microsoft office 2008 on it too.

i also plan on using my ibook in the future too.

if you want a gaming computer, a pc is your best choice. macs are for normally for advanced editing like music, graphic design, and video making. but with technology today, you can easily run parallels on a mac and run windows. so basically, you can run two operating systems in one and there are programs out there that you can use on a mac that you can run windows software on it without parallels.

my friend has a new macbook pro and he plays NFS SHIFT on it. he loves it and also has every OS out there from XP to Chromium. he would not tradit for anything (except for a newer macbook pro of course). so id say try a macbook pro and just get multiple OS's

Not really.

Any Mac with an intel chip (which is any new one you would buy these days and the majority of what people own) can natively run Windows ergo you can have both OSes on it therefore can do all things :p

I've always found that an intel based Mac actually runs Windows more stably than a pure Windows machine (probably because all of the Windows machines I've owned are custom builds and get clocked to high heaven :D)

What does that mean, anyway? $900? At the end of the day it's still an iBook G4. Surely no amount of "refurbishment" could be worth that. I feel your dad may have been ripped off, my man. :(
