Battles

Flaming thoughts spring to mind
in the heat of the moment.
Harsh words unsheathed and
the victim isn’t shielded
from harm.

Venomous language seeps
through the skin like acid.
Victim writhes in pain but
the flame burns ever
brighter.

Cooling down, flickering slowly.
Heartbeat pounding but
not as hard.
Hide away.
Grief.

Forgotten

Footprints covered by falling snow.
Memories erased long ago.
The last few notes of a tune,
faded away far too soon.

If I Were To Die

If I were to die by fire,
I doubt the pain would ever expire.
If I were to die by ice,
being grasped by a frosted hand might suffice.
But I’ve been told I have much to give
so wouldn’t I be better off to live?

Love

Love, sweet love,
in a child’s heart.
Love, pure love,
between two young people.
Love, everlasting love,
until they are wrinkled and old.

Consumption

Sweat upon the skin,
a cough of blood.
Loss of life is unavoidable,
Fate will not be ignored.
A step towards Death,
two steps back.
The situation looks up until a
claw reaches into reality.
The end has come.
