I experience quite very painful ones. It's not easy being a girl. I went to the doctor and he said it's normal, but he suggested an over the counter medicine that helps. But if they're REALLY bad, then you should see a doctor.

Yeah, I get some pretty bad cramps. Try a hot water bottle on your abdomen, or exercising more, I find they help. A steady diet also helps, so long as its healthy normally.

^True. My mom always has to remind me to take some.
I used to get REALLY bad cramps. I almost would faint from the pain, and my face would go white. Being a girl is not fun...
Thankfully I don't get them quite as bad anymore.

Iron, I think. Calcium could also be correct, but I recall iron being particularly important as it is associated with blood loss.
As everyone else has basically said, heat and exercise are you two most readily available ones. Pills could help, but not in all cases (they seem to not affect mine whatsoever).

I used to get really bad cramps, they were crippling. A hot pack and tylenol/midol helped me, and also running up and down the stairs. But I'm on birth control now and I have virtually no cramps, it's wonderful lol. If it's something your parents are okay with I suggest talking to your doctor about it.

Mine have been so bad in the past that it's made me vomit. It sucks, a lot. I usually don't take any time off from school, just take Tylenol, and try to not do anything to make it worse.

I'm on the pill now, which works wonders. But when I wasn't I would get TERRIBLE cramps for usually the first day or two. Brutal where I could just lie in a curled up ball. Advil and stuff helps, but a hot water bottle is the best and most soothing I think.

i thought something was rele wrong with me when i started getting rele bad cramps.
eventually someone told me wat the cramps are. cramps are contractions and u have heavy cramps with every contraction( the same as labor) u may notice that more blood comes out when u get a hard cramp, that is because ur body is trying to squeeze out the uterine lining and thats sometimes there is more blood then when ur not cramping..

Iron is correct, when you bleed you lose a lot of blood and so iron is needed to replace what is lost. Calcium won't do anything but strength bones, that includes in the downstairs region.
OP, i suggest press-ups and sit-ups, it helps to relax the stomach muscles making the pain subside.
