Yes I know quite a few. If you have any rubber bands, you can place them around your wrist. Every time you get the urge to cut, just pull the band, and let it hit against your wrist. No blood is being drawn away from that, and yet, your sort of releasing some tension from your body.

If you have any ice cubes, you can hold them in your hand, this sort of calms your body down, and I have heard this method works for some people.

If you have any clay, or play-doh, I would try squishing that. It's tough, and you can sort of stretch it, and form it into anything, and just demolish it, and do the same thing all over again. It doesn't really stain, so you could try that.

Also, many people have tried playing in mud/sand, running their arms, and fingers through it, but that's kind of messy, so unless you don't mind getting dirty, I guess that seems like a good distraction for you.

You said you tried drawing, you can always try writing, or jotting things down in a journal. There is a non self harm calender here, and I guess you can use that as sort of a distraction. You can take up a sport. Exercise, that sort of thing.

If you ever need to talk, we are always open for you.

i sometimes find that the best distractions are the ones that have nothing to do with self harm. the ice cubes and elastic bands things just make me even more frustrated! but i know they work for a lot of other people, so have you tried those? I try things that dont have anything to do with harm. Read something, look up old cartoons on youtube, or disney clips from when you were a kid (they always make you smile) change your bed sheets just for something to do, paint your nails, use some body lotion, make a collage of pretty pictures, dance around to old cheesy pop tunes from when you were little, to get all the energy out. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
