Ok, so I have found a really nice 2003 CVPI for sale near me, and I am not sure whether it's actually legal to be up for sale or not. The problem is, it still has the corner strobes, front and rear wigwag lights, and the light controller still installed in the car. I know that the spotlights in the A pillars are perfectly legal, and unsure about the push bar still installed. Any help would be appreciated!

Should be fine. I would have it inspected at a ford dealership before hand just to make sure.

In CA its perfectly legal to have the lights installed, you just arent allowed to use them on road or else you will be in deep shit. :P

Alor of people have lighting systems, i.e. whelen demo cars, etc. Just as long as you dont use them to impersonate LE.
Questions though; why would you, a regular citizen, want a CVPI with all the emergency equipment??

Well, first of all, Crown Vics are great cars in general, and the CVPI's have a lot of upgraded equipment, such as heavy duty shocks, oil cooler, stuff like that making them even longer lasting and durable. Second, it doesn't have all the emergency equipment, as it is lacking the siren and the red and blue lights on top. Third, with the push bar on the front, it'd be helpful in the case of an accident. Finally, crown vics have a nice powertrain, nice looks overall, and a pretty good crash rating, making for fairly good insurance rates.

CVPI's are nice yeah, wouldnt mind owning one, i also like the new concept interceptor that ford is producing. It's a shame to see the CVPI go though :(

Everything is perfectly legal to have on the vehicle. It is legal to sell CVPIs. You cant use the lighting systems while driving on the road. Thats the only illegal thing. Other than that everything is a-o-kay. I suggest taking it to a Ford Dealership so they can inspect the vehicle though.

Did you see that gay new law FDLE passed about CVPI's? "impersonating law enforcement the vehicle says "police" on it (ref; police interceptor model tag)" I have a feeling that 1. it'll never get enforced unless the cop 2. it will be appealed and removed
This was released at the same time as the "Assault on a Law Enforcement Explorer" charge. Gotta love FDLE.

Well my family owns 3 ford crown vic police P71 Interceptors and I can say they are great cars. We have an 01, an 03 and an 08. The older ones are ok but they updated the cluster in 05 and fixed a few recurring issues IE blower motor problems, belt tensioner issues, and worst off re designed the heads so that the plugs dont shoot out of the engine (happened to us once). Just buy one from the coast and preferably one from a large city with legit maintence departments that maintained the cars throughout there usage.

I have a '00 CVPI and love it. Just rolled 251,000 miles on the original motor and still almost looks like new inside and out. It's a former unmarked state patrol car. I'm looking at upgrading to a 2006 and newer soon. Mostly because of upgraded gauge cluster withn a built-in tach.
Owning a retired police car with spotlights and pushbars are not illegal, but doesn't mean you wont be watched by officers. Mine was originally ordered with a driver side spotlight, but they removed it. I never bothered to reinstall another one.

As long as the lights on it doesn't flash red, blue, and any color of an emergency vehicle it should be fine.

Well the Australian cars are actually cooler. They are more advanced, and faster than the CVPI, while still being simple and cheap.
