I honestly thought the production side of the entire show was great. Amazing lighting, choreography, and staging. But it's probably the worst Super Bowl half time show I've ever seen. The robotic sound effects added to some of the vocals really killed it for me. It goes to show how much they rely on effects to have their voices sound good. And the deal with Slash out of fucking nowhere? What was that all about? Yeah yeah, 'Sweet Child O' Mine' isn't nothing apparently without Slash on guitar, but really? I'm sorry, but a guy like Slash I thought had some bit of integrity left on his name. I thought wrong then. Usher was a surprise, that's for sure. I liked his dancing, reminded me of Michael Jackson with how quickly he could turn. Overall, a 50/100 half time show.

I hate it when untalented people get lives like that when the people in the studio make them sound good and they get no credit. Btw they sucked donkey balls!

I liked Slash being there, honestly. When he had that monkey grinding him, though, ruined it. Especially when she was grunting into the microphone the supposed lyrics of the song.

I thought he ruined every bit of integrity he still had left doing that. What a fucking joke.

He was the only artist there I respected. I still respect him, I think he's a pretty bad ass icon. Maybe he was asked to do it, I don't know.

I'm sorry, but when you have a mix of new artists and old artists...it doesn't really mix.

I think the only reason Slash showed up was because Fergie sang on a song on his recent solo album, so maybe he repaid the favor by playing with them at the halftime show. Though I do think Slash should have either done a separate thing (He's great, I saw him open for Ozzy just a little bit ago) instead of share a stage with BEP. They were absolutely horrible.

Amen. This is what happens when a group uses technology to mask their lack of talent. They suck live and their whole show goes to hell whenever the DJ screws up. However Fergie is a very good singer... go on youtube sometime and watch her do Barracuda with Heart. It's pretty good.
And THANK YOU Slash for saving what could've been a trainwreck... at least for a minute and a half.

I'm going to agree with this. Phish is alright. I never got too much into their work, but jam bands were never my specific taste.
Also, has everyone noticed that there was a football game that night too?

Not really, all he did was stand there and play Sweet Child O' Mine, which is a much easier song than it sounds. Whatever happened to rock culture, where everyone was at least a little anti-mainstream?

How many times must it be said that Slash isn't even that great of a guitarist? His playing is not in the least bit technical save for five or six songs. But I'm probably talking to some dadrock enthusiast.

Being anti-mainstream was the mainstream back then. As our culture changes, so does everything that goes with it. Music will change because change is inevitable. The Sex Pistols? Really? That is who you consider anti-mainstream? They're probably one of the most mainstream classic punk rock bands of all time. The note that Sid Vicious wrote was nothing more than talk. They were already inducted into the Hall of Fame that they apparently hated so much and considered to be a piss stain. So, you see, as time goes on, culture and music changes. Even the Six Pistols couldn't escape this fate.

I know the Pistols aren't nearly as hardcore as they make themselves out to be, considering they've made a ridiculous number of complitations and box sets where they pretty much sell you Never Mind the Bollocks again and again, but it's just nice to see them be a little anti-mainstream. I mean, Slash is just another corporate puppet now. So is Ozzy (well, he was pretty much always like that, but once he got that shitty reality show he just became plastic).
I know musical and cultural evolution is inevitable, but there are those who adapt to it intelligently and those who don't. I respect rock stars who can change their sound and image without becoming corporate sellouts. Obviously, Slash has failed to do this. He was on the right track before, simply collaborating with already respected artists like Michael Jackson while remaining independent and part of Velvet Revolver, yet he's gone too far and has solidly become part of the mainstream, his life reduced to playing the same guitar riffs from overplayed songs over and over again. I mean, Guitar Hero? Really?
