I think the Puberty threads should be made into Groups that you have to join in order to post in. That way it'll stop girls from posting in Puberty for Boys, and it'll stop boys from posting in Puberty for Girls.

For example, I'm active on another forum where you're allowed to post pictures of yourself or your photography. But in order you view/post in that topic, you have to ask the Moderators to join, and they choose to either accept or deny your request.

Idk, I just thought that since it says 'BOYS/GIRLS ONLY' under each topic, it would make more sense to have to join instead of it being public. That way only boys can join the PfB and only girls can join the PfG. Since there's already a public one for both boys and girls to post in, I think these should be made more private.

Just what I was thinking :D

Honestly, I agree with this post and I don't participate with p101 at all.

^ Thanks :D. I just think it would make the topics more personal. Like myself, I have a lot I want to say/ask, but I don't want to say it because I don't want girls to see what I have to say.

The puberty section is for everyone to view. It wouldn't make sense to make it private to non members.

I don't understand. It's clear as day, boys puberty, Girls puberty. If a post is in the wrong place, it can be moved.

I honestly don't see whats wrong in putting girls only, boys only in your topic if you don't want the other gender to read.

Maybe I'm not understanding it. :P

Haha it's ok, I did a bad job explaining it. What I mean is I'd like to see the Puberty for Boys/Girls topics turned into groups that you have to join. That way only boys can post in the Puberty for Boys section and only girls can post in the Puberty for Girls section. Since there's already another topic designated for questions/comments open to both boys and girls, I think it would make more sense to make the gender-specific topic more private.

It's like what I said above about myself. I have a lot of questions that I want to ask/talk about, but I don't want to post them because I know girls can read and post in them right now. If the topics were made exclusive to the specific gender, only boys would be able to read and post in any threads in the Puberty for Boys section, and vice versa.

When you say "If a post is in the wrong place, it can be moved.", I think you're thinking about like a girl posting in the PfB section, or the other way around, right? What I mean is that girls won't be able to see the PfB topic, and boys won't be able to see the PfG topic. That way it's just more private and personal.

That kind of defeats the purpose a little of the puberty section. There is a lot girls can learn from reading the boys section, just as there's a lot boys can learn from reading the girls section.

I really don't see the issue though, why should you care if girls that you don't know, and will probably never in your life meet, read your thread?
Seriously.

Sure, there's a lot girls can learn by reading the PfB section, but isn't that what the 'Questions for Both Boys and Girls' section is for? I personally don't think girls can learn much from reading the PfB section because most threads in that section are questions asked by boys meant to be answered by boys.

And you may not see the issues with knowing that the opposite sex can read and post in threads specifically aimed at the same gender as the thread creator, but that doesn't mean that everyone shares your views. I personally don't want to post questions or comments knowing that a girl can read them. It's not weird, it's just what I think.

If all the puberty sections were made into groups that would defeat the purpose of most of the forum. It would also defeat the purpose of Pube Mods. On other forums to prevent guys posting in girls and vice verse they have password protection. And if a Guy wants the password for each forum they would need to ask a Male Mod to post in the guys section and girls would PM a Female Mod to post in the girls. And im not really sure but I think you can set it up so girls can read guys forums but not post and vise versa

and besides its not that hard to move a post if its in the wrong forum. A Mod will see it or if someone else sees it its not that hard to click report so a Mod does see it.

Why do you not want girls reading your post? What if their boyfriend is the same way, and your post gives them insight to whats going on with them?

Like it or not the p101 forums are what bring a lot of new members to the site and it would be counterproductive to restrict access to them. I doubt if many people bother to read the threads in the other gender's forum anyway and to be honest I'd be equally embarassed if anyone I knew of either sex read some of the more personal details I've revealed when answering posts.

Alot of people join because they are young teenagers who need help with Puberty and alot of them most likely read the Puberty sections as a guest too see if this is the kind of place they want to join to get help with some puberty issue they may have and if is they would make an account. It shouldnt matter if boys read girls sections and vice versa its really not that hard to read the rules and posts can be moved easily

Here's the problem. P101 is now and will forever be viewable by unregistered people. If this were done, all someone would have to do is log out to be able to read the other gender's section.

Not if it's made private. If someone is unregistered and comes to this site, any of the private groups aren't publically displayed, even to someone who is just visiting as a guest. Otherwise everyone could do that to read what's going on in private groups.

My point was that P101 will never be made private.

Yes, but think about it. Most people visit here as guests to see what has to be said in the P101. If they were made private, more people would join the site in order to see what's being posted. Sure, some wouldn't join, but a lot more would.

Joining is not now nor should it ever be a requirement to receive help through observation.
