I recently got an iphone 4 32gig phone. The biggest attraction for me was the HD vid. I was hoping to get videos like this guys in the following

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lcCYbQZO8c&feature=channel

Upon recording a video during a theater production I went too, I got home to be let down when I uploaded the video from the iphone 4 to my desktop. It was not the best quality at all. I can't work out what I am doing wrong =/

Any help you tech genius gods

First off, the video in that link is nowhere near HD, it isn't even standard def.
And if the theater production was darkly lit, it isn't going to be a very good quality video. Try recording something with better lighting and see how that comes out.

You are probably doing nothing wrong. The iPhone 4 video quality is good - for a smartphone-grade video device. But it is still quite basic optics coupled to a captor with a quite limited light sensibility range. It gives correct videos under average conditions, but trying in dark/very light environments is likely to give you a much worse result. You simply cannot expect to get results of the same quality of a true HD camcorder with an iPhone 4.

Yeah the video quality of iphone 4 is on par with pocket HD camcorders but as stated above you just cant expect to get the same quality of a true HD camcorder with iphone 4...
