Emotional abuse is about undermining a child’s confidence and sense of self-worth – for example by ignoring them, giving degrading punishments, or constantly threatening or humiliating them.
So basically, if someone is constantly trying to humiliate you, or give you degrading punishments, threaten you, or try to undermine your confidence, it's emotional abuse.

It's basically abusing someone with words. Belittling them. Calling them names, putting them down. Using their voice to abuse someone.
Georgia gave a really good example as well.

You know when you hit someone, you have hit them and it is over and done with and you dont usually think about it over and over again. But if someone said something to you without any physical contact, whatever they said usually goes over your mind over and over again.
The other 2 replies to this thread is really good definitions too.

Is it still abuse if they dont know they are doing it?

^ Yes, most definitely. In milder cases, I would be more careful about that, but if you know that their behaviour is not correct but they don't realise it's abuse, it's still abuse.
