Whats your choice?

Personally, I`d go for the custom built. You wind up getting everything you want, exactly how you want it, and usually for a MUCH cheaper price.

Edit: For gaming, specifically.

For laptops, apple because they are light and battery life is excellent.

For desktop, custom build. Why? It's custom made for you that's why :)

Edit:i know it's for gaming because you mentioned alienware :P I'd still prefer custom if desktop. It makes me feel in control.

Custom built.
Sure, Alienware machines are 'prettier', sometimes, but there's no need to pay an extra $15,000 to have that.

I`m speaking more in the realm of gaming, sorry. lol.
I`ll edit that into the first post.

Custom. I really don't like the design of most Alienware machines anyway, they are not classy enough ;)

Yeah, custom build. With AW you are just paying £200 for a name.

Custom, you'll end up needing to upgrade parts of your Alienware from time to time so its not worth the extra few hundred.

I dunno guys for someone who doesn't know stuff about computers or wants something to just 'work' as well as possible with no hassle Alienware is nice -> well tested machines with full support.

For myself tho I'd never buy one, i actually enjoy setting up my own pc, and like you all said you get less for the price.

I consider Alienware products the Macs of the gaming computer industry. Really, custom built rapes everything else.

Alienware is overpriced garbage. I could build a computer just as good for half the price. sooooooooooo......................... CUSTOM! lol

I'd definitely custom build it. No questions asked.

Alienware < Anything else

Alienware is extremely overpriced, and you can find an equal computer for much less somewhere else, whether it's custom or you buy it elsewhere.

Yeah, Alienware isn't as great as it's cracked up to be. Custom built is always the way to go, if you know how to build a PC.
