Wrestling weighin

I've been thinking about joining the wrestling team at school but i was curious to know about weigh ins. Some of my friends at other schools said they weigh in in their underwear or singlets. But they said sometimes they are all naked. I'm a little nervous about this. Do your schools have you weigh in naked?

I never had to weigh in naked. Its personal choice. If you feel you made your weight for the week there's no need to strip down at all. If you're cutting it close and every ounce counts you may need to take off some clothing. Though honestly wrestling is not a sport to join if you are self conscious about your body. Most singlets are skin tight anyway and your package will be on full display.

The naked thing is usually when a skin condition check is required, usually for competitions, to make sure that you are not contagious. Wrestling is after all a very close sport. It can be done privately though. you don't have to submit to something that you are not yet comfortable with. Just tell them, don't let it put you off sport.

i wouldnt think they would make you weigh in naked, that doesnt seem like something schools would do

i made the school wrestling team, and at my school, even at the skin check, the closest to naked we have got to has been, just underwear. i mean, you can shower and stuff, but thats different, and even if your cutting it close, to your undies, if you dont cut, starve yourself for a whole day, workout like hell the next day and taadaa! that easy

ya...we never had to weigh-in naked, even if it was a checkup for skin conditions....
besides ur not naked when u practice/wrestle, so why would they need to check down there?

Back when I wrestled I was never close to not making weigh ins so I could just weigh in in a singlet and sometimes shorts over them. But sometimes when you are over by a few ounces you have to do what you have to do and if it means you go take a quick piss to lose it or if u have to get weighed naked to make weight you have to do what you have to do. nobody will judge you if u have to strip down...

I'm not a wrestler an I don't know what they do at weigh in, but why not just plan on showin it and enjoy it!

My team even if you are definitely going to make weight must weigh in in your boxers but I have never heard of weighing in naked

Usually what happens is that most kids will be weighed in wearing boxers or even shorts. However, if the person is close to their weigh-in weight, they may do it naked to ensure that there is no extra weight on them (to help them make weight). Hope that helped.

That's pretty strange. We have to weigh for a good chunk of our sports here - even Tennis. Back in the day, not too long ago, our Rugby ones were done in our jerseys (training top + pants) but no shoes. It'd be kinda strange having to do it naked, they'd know the rough weight of underwear anyway and there's bound to be a zero error on the scale that would fuck it all up anyway.
