Some people are tougher than others. You don't have to cry to feel sad. Your dad might have had a influence on it, probably telling you to be a man and stop crying, but usually people are tough people. They feel sad, but they just don't cry.
I'm pretty sure there will be times when you will cry, because I believe that we all cry, but just some people are tougher, and are able to hold their feelings in better.

Sometimes I wish i could hide my emotions, but I can't. I guess it's like what the person above me said. People are different and you shouldn't feel sad because you can't cry.

Some people cry as a reaction to sadness, others don't. Your dad could possibly have had an effect on it, but it's not something I would worry about too much. It's just your personal reaction to sadness doesn't involve crying.

Don't worry, you have no need to cry, you can be sad either way.

I hardly ever cry. I tend to not cry for months and months, and then one little thing pushed me over the edge, and I cry for hours because I couldn't find my chemistry book (I actually did that).
I don't have any suggestions about how to change it, but I can just say you're not alone, and I know how frustrating it can be. :hug3:

Not to take turn this thread in a morose direction, but I cried for the first time in six years in October when my grandpa died. You may find that it takes more for you to become emotional, on a deeper level than a cat or even finding out a relative has a disease. It does not mean you are emotionally incapable of feeling sadness. Males in this society are generally taught to suppress emotions. You may have gotten an extra helping of this as a child that is now influencing your behavior. You could ask to see a psychologist to analyze these feelings on a deeper and more comprehensive level.
