Hi everybody i am knew to this site, and am making a short film to raise awareness on self injury. the film is going to focus on encouaring friends to be supportive when their friends who self injure confide in them about their self injury. I was just wondering if any of you have idea about what you would want your friends to say or not to say if you confided in them about your self injury.

I'd want my friends to support me... obviously. Heh. I guess what almost every self-harmer fears is rejection from any sort of society because of what they do. Awareness is a great thing to be promoting because it helps those who are uneducated about this serious addiction understand and hopefully be more compassionate.

You should get pictures of scars and stuff :/

And show them that their never alone
i used to self harm for fear of rejection/depression

That they should care, and not judge the person because of what they do.

That they need to really understand why people cut. Not just say, you freak, why the hell do you cut yourself, you idiot. That they should listen to the cutters problem, how it's hard for them to stop, how every cutter has a story to why they started.

I think I'd want them just be be supportive and not to judge me.
And that I could come and talk to them about it if I needed to.

I would want my friends to be supportive of me, as I would and will always be supportive of them. I would tell them what its like to look at your scars, and what thoughts and figures go through my head. I would want them to be my friend for who I am not for what I am.

I would like them to care,
Listen and not judge me.
And most of all just be there and support me.
