ATLANTA -- Carmen Jones said when her 4-year-old grandson is healthy, he's as energetic, playful and loving and most children his age."But when he's sick we are constantly reminded of that horrific night when the dirty condom was left in the bed," said Jones. It's been more than 6 months since Jones' grandson found a used condom in their hotel bed. Jones said he put it in his mouth and was blowing it up because he thought it was a balloon . They were staying in what was the Wyndham Garden Hotel in downtown Atlanta on Aug. 1."It's been very rough, physically, mentally and emotionally. He is still having outbreaks. He missed the last three days of school before the Christmas break," said Jones.Jones said her grandson contracted Herpes from that dirty condom. She said because of that, some of her family and friends don't bring their children around him anymore."They are just concerned about their child getting something or that he will transmit something to their children. So we don't see them. It's been very painful," said Jones.Jones has filed a lawsuit against the hotel owners. She hopes by hitting the owners in their pockets it will prevent something like this from happening to another family."I would like to see that there are no more dirty rooms --- that these rooms are cleaned before families or individuals stay in a hotel," said Jones.A spokeswoman for the New Jersey-based Wyndham did not immediately return a call for comment. 4-Year-Old Contracts Herpes, Negative For HIV After Used Condom Incident

That says something about the staff, though why the child would put it in his mouth is beyond me, considering the semen.

It's a four year old. They don't know what's in it. They're just curious and play with anything

Poor child. Why didn't they see it was a condom. It's not that hard to tell the difference between the two.

Four-year-olds are oblivious to adult things like dirty, sexy condoms.

Well i see it as the stupid fuck that used it should have thrown it away and because he didn't they should get some DNA from the condom and sue the guy that was last there

Why would they sue the last guy who was there? It was not his fault in any way — actually, he was being responsible by using a condom. It was the hotel's job to clean the room properly, something they failed to do.

There was a very similar story last year, yes.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but if I were hotel cleaning staff, I wouldn't touch a used condom without some very, very thick gloves. Of course that doesn't really excuse anything; just go get some.

That's a damn shame though.

It did not happen twice. This is an update of that story; the grandmother has announced that she is suing the hotel.

As long as you don't put that hand to your mouth after touching said condom, you'll be fine.

Poor kid though:(

Although this is true, I still wouldn't touch it. I have two medical professional parents and have been around hospitals a lot and kind of picked up the 'better safe than sorry' doctrine when it comes to microbes. I'm not a germaphobe, but I'm just very cautious.
