That sounds bad. I would at least clean it up and take care of it. I'm not the best with first aid, so you might want to go see a clinic or something.

Best to get care of it sooner rather than later Fran. Otherwise it could get nasty.

My suggestion is try to keep it as clean as possible now. Wash it with warm water and soap. Next pour hydrogenperoxide on it until the foam goes down. After that put neosporin or bacitracin and a bandaid on it. This shall help wonders with the infection, however if it gets worse see a doctor. Hope this helps.

^^ Don't use hydrogen peroxide, It kills the good cells aswell as the bad and can slow down the healing process, just use lots of ansceptic and keep it clean.
A lot of my deeper cuts get like that but they sort themselves out eventually.

If it doesn't look right, it probably isn't. Glad your going to the doctor, because infections like that can only get worse.

No Peroxide on open wounds, it kills good cells which then bacteria then feeds on and makes it worse. It also slows down the healing process. From my medical experience. I recommend keeping it dry and clean. Bath the wound in salty water; this is a great way to clean a wound (Basically homemade Saline (Medical Wound Wash)) Make sure you place a sterile dressing over it (Preferiably a Non Stick Dressing) and change it daily.
Good idea to see a doctor, if it becomes red around the wound, or have any type of throbbing pain - see a doctor earlier as it can become serious and the infection can spred around your body.
Hope this helps, if you or anyone else need any advice on First Aid ect, please contact me I can really help :)
