I haven't written anything worth posting lately.
Written today:
All around me are rivers flowing
over their banks and down the slopes.
Hands reach out for one another
as they're lost amidst their hopes.
Hell breaks loose as town is reached,
getting swallowed in it's wake.
Preacher's forget to pray when
they witness what's at stake.
Cries echo in the surging waves.
Drowning souls are forever lost in empathy.
They huddle together, sobbing shamelessly
in the midst of the surging seas.
Buildings start to crack and crumble
and a boy is dragged along.
He screams noiselessly for his mom,
but his voice is far too gone.
This could be hell in a bottle,
if water turned to flame.
Trapped in a make-shift vortex;
Earth's idea of a decaying game.
Infants shudder in their carriers,
as they, too, float downstream.
All lives are lost, inevitably
when a peaceful river gets mean.
Roll the dice and take a chance,
are there even any rules?
Life or death seems unfair;
Or perhaps a little cruel.
Waves shake and shift together
then slowly close it's spout.
But, when it comes to hell
there's no putting that flame out.
