Alrighty, simple question here. It's about time for me to update the software on my ipod (Touch, 4G, 64GB), only problem is I've long since jailbroken it. Will updating the software fuck anything up? Will I have to jailbreak it again after the update?

Well, you'll lose all of your apps attained through jailbreaking it (if any).
And yes, you will have to re-jailbreak it afterwards, as a firmware update functions essentially like a system restore.

There is NO full untethered jailbreak on 4.2.1. Just wait till iOS 4.3 and there will be a new jailbreak. But yes you'll lose your jailbreak apps and data.

Sounds good, I'll wait until 4.3 then.

It's simple. Once you jailbreak, you're stuck with the OS you had when you jailbroke. And when you update your OS, it erases the jailbreak. My advice would be transfer your music, videos, apps, etc. to your computer, then do a reset of your iPod, then update your OS, then re-jailbreak (if possible untethered) for the OS you upgraded to.
I have a jailbroken iPod touch 4G, running 4.3.1, jailbroken with RedSn0w 0.9.6rc12 (untethered)
Hope this helps!
