After a dental appointment, has anyone else had their tongue and bottom lip numb after the appointment?

I went to the dentist today to fill in three dental caries 20 minutes ago and they are numb. How long will it last?

Yeah, when they numb your mouth it'll be numb for a bit afterward. Depending on the medication really for how long. From my past dental visits, it has usually been 1-3 hours afterward.

That'll happen after Novocain.

It'll go away in a few hours. Watch out when you try to drink, it's hilarious and extremely messy.

I guess you meant cavities?

Well if they inject local anaesthetic into your gum it will make your tongue and lips numb, that's normal. It wears off after a couple of hours.

It'll go in a couple of minutes. It depends on what they used to numb your mouth but it should go away soon. Won't last more than a day from what I know. I've never had them numb me but I used certain things to numb my mouth because of the pain.

I have a great urge to spit but I can't :(

But thanks for the conformation :) I heard some scary stories that people got too much Novocain or the needle hit a nerve, and it takes up to months for the feeling to return fully

Have you started talking funny yet? When I got teeth pulled and tried to talk while my mouth was still numb I sounded so funny, no one could understand what I was saying.

I highly doubt that they hit a nerve.

I doubt it too, since it was a quick procedure. I do talk funny but people can still understand me.
