So I did this cut before, about 3 hours. And it's still, not like bleeding, like all over the place, but when I soak it it instantly becomes filled with blood again. And it's hurting quite a lot, it wasn't as deep as normal. Help? I don't wanna go the hospital for more stitches if I can avoid it.

Ummm. Just put a something absorbant on it. I'm sure putting water on it probably opens the cut again so wait for it to heal. Just have like a wet and dry towel or toilet paper, cover it until it stops bleeding and don't "poke" it around.

I already tried that for the first hour. Seemed to make it worse.

You could try using steri-strips until it heals.

You don't have any kind of medical equipment in your house?

If it worries you this much and won't stop bleeding use a bandage or if you don't have any use tissue for a makeshift one it should stop it bleeding

I tried gauze, and damping it with a tea towel. It's worse now, if anything. It's bleeding all over the place, I can't stop it running.

Use Hydrogen Peroxide on your cut to disinfect it.

Can you get to the store? Because steri-strips will keep it closed so it can heal properly Matt.

I went the store, no steri strips. I got plasters, gauze, bandage material, and a little bit of medical tape. The next nearest shop is an hour away.

I'd probably fashion something that could keep the cut closed. When it's not closed like that for more gaping cuts, it's very easy to provoke it and open it up again so it starts bleeding again. Maybe somehow doing something with the medical tape?

How would tha work? Cos if it's normally bleeding like this, I go the hospital. But I didn't go that deep, and its that wide either, it's just bleeding like crazy now.

Is it on your arm? Can you get it into a position where you can sit on it? Or lie down and put it underneath you so you are lying on it? put as much pressure as possible on it and stay there for as long as possible.

Well, keeping it closed will help keep it from starting up again when you do have the bleeding down. Something like gauze and medical tape, taping it securely in a fashion that would keep the two edges together. Trying to figure out how to explain it logically :P
Otherwise, pressure and keeping it elevated, above your heart until you can get the bleeding down.

Alright I think I've got it. I can see blood through the bandage though. Hurts like a motherfucker, but I'm lying on it with a tea towel on it.

What I've always found usefull is just wrap half a toilet roll (a new one of course) round my arm or leg as tight as I could, then I'd wrap tape round it reall tight as many times as I could all the way allong from top to bottom, and just refersh it everyday.
Worked for me. Hope your ok Matt

I just got up, and peeled the tea towel off. It's still open, starting bleeding again

dont take anything off. You said you have medical tape, so maybe use that to close it? It's not as good as steristrips, but it should keep it closed long enough for it to heal a bit and stop bleeding.

put pressure onto it, and leave it there. Don't even take it off to have a look at it, keep the pressure on.

Matt, I know you said you dont wanna go back to the hospital but, maybe you should go to A&E and get it stiched up. If you've been bleeding this long you gotta stop it soon. Loosing too much blood is not good. Please
