It will be with my cell phone..so nothing fancy.

Don't take images of still objects. That's what everyone else does on VT and it's not interesting at all. Try to experiment and do something outside of the box. Even if it's using a phone camera, you can come up with something I'm sure.

Old houses, sunsets, sunrises, rivers, beaches. Be creative. Go around the city, and see what you think would make a nice picture.

The most common composition mistake is to centre the main interest in the picture. Off centre, both vertically and horizontally, can be much more interesting.
