She wouldn't let go of the past
She couldn't see through the dark
The mistakes of the past
Her own failures, errors of judgement, haunted her every waking moment.

She wanted to amend her wrongs.
No matter how impossible it may be

She wanted to look in the mirror and see,
not the cold hearted girl she forced herself to look out,
But the easy smiling, light hearted person, who could accept her fate,
once she reached the end of her life, her goal,
and could depart with death to the next life as equals.

She just had no idea how.
She clung to the bad things

Hoping that her own form of repentance
The mutilation of her skin
The redness of her own blood
The way it dribbled down, and hit the ground, spotting it like stars in the sky.

She starved herself, hoping this would all be enough, that it would be worth it.
Denying herself the food she desperately craved, it would all add up.

To the forgiveness she so desperately desired.

But it never would.
