I'm not quite sure if this is in the right section, so move if needed.

So, I have dissociative/depersonalization disorder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depersonalization_disorder#Symptoms). Sometimes it can be triggered by trauma, sometimes stress, and sometimes it just appears out of the blue. How can I deal with the anxiety I get when I'm feeling dissociated? I always get very panicked and anxious when I kind of know I'm in the state, and it's hard for me to concentrate on other things.

Write. When this happens to me (very often) and I DO mind it I end up writing to bring myself back in. Writing can attach you to your body and the real world.

Before getting Caddy, and still today when I don`t have her to help me through my anxiety attacks, I try to play this game that my old therapist taught me as a kid.

When you`re going through severe panic attacks, its hard to concentrante on anything, let alone a single object, but in this game, thats your goal. Focus on just ONE thing. It can be anything. Lets say, a table. First, name it. Its a table. Now, spell it. T.a.b.l.e. If you get fustrated at that part, don`t force yourself, just move on. What are tables used for? To eat on. What color is the tabel? Brown. What is this table made out of? Wood. Do I think this table is rough, or smooth? Smooth.

The goal is to get yourself to focus on one single object, and describe it as much as possible. Essentially, it helps you take your mind off of the situation at hand. Once you`ve described that single object move to another. Remember to take deep breaths.

To alot of people, it probably sounds silly. It seems very kiddish, but when your going through an anxiety attack, your brain dosen`t function properly. Doing something this simple suddendly seems like a huge task. But thats what makes it effective. Trying to put all of your attention and focus on that one object helps take your mind off other things.

I don`t know if this will work for you, but it has helped me tremendously.
I hope I`ve helped =]
If you ever need some help, you can always message me, and I`m on Yahoo messenger alot.
Best of luck!

See that lantern? See that cute little T.V? Oh looky! It's a fridge!

Fuck those who says that destructions makes you more angry and does not calm you down. It does calm you down. I tried it. It feels very good. Just simply punch, kick, throw whatever fuck is there.

Hello, I am not inciting you to take a gun and shoot people. Nope. Take a hammer, and break glass. Finis.

We`re dealing with anxiety/panic attacks. Not anger.
Such things can only worsen your anxiety, not soothe it.

I think it's all about developing your own ways of preventing and coping with stress and/or anxiety. I guess i've developed my own...umm... philosophy (or outlook) that makes me stay calm most of the time, look at things for what they really are and avoid unnecessary stressors. So yeah, I try hard to avoid stress in the first place and then use certain techniques that work for me in case I do get stressed out and anxious. Because of this i've become an extremely relaxed person with very little stress...although as a downside, i've become dependent on some of the things that I use to calm me down.

So, it's anxiety. I have only run into them a couple of times. I was in a horrible condition, I even had suicide thoughts, too. Tsk. The best thing I did was to isolate myself - I have felt that it would make it worse, but all went well.
