View Full Version : Shaving?

I think I want to start shaving my pubic hair but am afraid that someone might catch a glimpse at some point and think that I am promiscuous/sex-crazed/weird. How do I overcome this paranoia?

Why get paranoid? You shave yourself because you want to feel clean and have less sweat and the genital area.

That sounds like a pretty fail-proof alibi but the real reson I'm doing it is just to try it.

Well hell, just try it then, don't worry if anybody sees you, why would they be lookin at your crotch anyway? Throw that one back on them

well if you are so worried about shaving, why dont you just trim? Remember pubic hair always grows back..

Well... I'm not really worried about peers or anything like that... I'm more worried about my parents seeing it and thinking something's up and maybe sit me down to have a heart-to-heart...

Its your body, do what you want. None of your parents business. There are good hygeine reasons. Plus most guys seem to take care of it, so its quite normal.

I dont know what you think your parents are going to want to talk about..

For what its worth, my parents are thinking of taking us to a nudist resort and in all the pics I'm not seeing a lot of pubage, because I was worried i'd look odd.

Like... Maybe they'll feel that I'm sexually confused or frustrated... I know that my dad would feel compulsed to say something but not really sure what.

The conversation would go a little like this:

Dad: "So Jake... What happened to your hair?..."
Me: "I shaved it off, dad."
*The longest most awkward silence ever experienced*
Dad: "...Why?"
Me: "Umm..."
Dad: "Is it a sexual thing?"
*serious/disapproving face*
Me: "No. It just feels cleaner."
*Silence*
Dad: "Aren't you washing down there?"
Me: "What?! Of course I am!"
Dad: "Are you sweating alot?"
Me: "No..."
Dad: "Is it for a girl?"
Me: "It's not a sexual thing!"

You get the idea...

Ok and then what ... how does the conversation end? With him telling you to wear a pube wig until it grows back?

You tell him its more comfortable and hygeinic. Tell him yeah it looks better, makes me feel sexy. WTF can he say to that, really?
Dad: "I don't want you doing that anymore" ?
Would you listen to him about style advice on your head hair? About your clothes?

Its not like you've done anything permanent like a tattoo or a piercing so I doubt they'll care THAT much anyway.

It's just horrible to have him condecend to me. (Especially when I'm so much smarter than him :yeah::P)

Well yeah, but just bluff him out. His attitude only works because you are letting him push your buttons. Stay calm and he'll try to be logical and fail (because any argument he could come up with would be absurd). Get angry and he'd just get angry back and ground you or something stupid.

I kind of get the same thing (but my mum and dad ARE very clever) but if you can keep it light hearted I find just stuff like "well i'm a teenage boy, we have to do dumb stuff. Its a law" works. A bit of humour like that without being cheeky kind of knocks them off their soap box and makes them more human.

I shaved and itches like crazy when it grows back. However, like someone said here, it helps.

You'd be surprised how many young people shave their crotch, its hygienic
