So... yes, I did not yet started with Gothic music. But I am truly interested in them.
After listening to Electro-Industrial, EBM and Industrial music, I believe their roots comes from Gothic musical style such as post-punk, dark wave and the like.
I am thoroughly interested with that kind of music. All I want is that you give me some musical acts that belongs to the Gothic scenes. Like influentials, most notable and some obscure ones as well.
Please no The cure or Billy Idol - this is not g:ut.

We are getting to somewhere.

I don't personally but some people consider Joy Division to be gothic rock.

I'm assuming you're asking for REAL stuff, as in the 80s goth rock/post-punk. So in that case, I'm a great source.
And... why not The Cure? The Cure IS goth.

Man, I will not only order the whole discography! But a dozen of Rozz T-Shirt as well! It will be the optimal way to troll MM fans.

Those are exquisite! I will try to get them... I have The Cruxshadows and L'mortalle, and I am still wondering if those are (contemporary) gothic music.
And, if you have more to post, then please do so! 80's mainstream was second to none - also I want darkwave groups(I die to a something called synth). Putting up The Cure is cliche.

^ Yeah, in a modern way I guess. Of course calling them by the goth subgenre wouldn't work, but I know The Cruxshadows sound very heavily influenced by 70s and 80s goth. 90s music is another story though :P I've never heard of the other group though.
Are you into Depeche Mode? One of their most recent albums, I swear, is one of my personal favourites. Even though it's a 2005 album :P They're New Wave/Synthpop, and their album Playing the Angel has just that pinch of darkness to it.

Their older stuff is worth the listen as well, but oddly enough as a full album, that one's my favourite.
I'd suggest more but I don't have any reference point since my hard drive died and I lost a lot of my music.

The only song I have heard is 'Walking in my Shoes'(I have posted it somewhere). I wasn't intrested in Synth pop and New Wave - the labels turned me away.
