Sorry if this thread has been created several times before but it's a question that has sparked my curiousity.
Who is your favourite all time vocalist (or vocalists if you cant decide on one like me haha) ?
Any particular reason ?
Favourite song by that particular artist ?
If someone said that artist cant sing, what song would you give them to listen to to prove them wrong ?
Weird questions i know, thanks in advance to anyone who answers.

Also, to OP's question "If someone said that artist cant sing, what song would you give them to listen to to prove them wrong ?", my response is this -
All because a vocalist can sing very well, it doesn't mean the music that they create is initially good. Like I do believe Britney Spears has a nice voice, but her music fucking sucks. It's the same thing with most pop artists (the one's who don't auto tune). What I like in a vocalist is that they do try to make their sound more distinguished and different than others so that they have their own style they stand by. The other thing is that the vocalist has to be using their voice correctly into fitting in with good music. It's a shame to see such amazing singers put their talent to waste.

Who is your favourite all time vocalist (or vocalists if you cant decide on one like me haha) ? Diana Damrau (classical) and Tarja Turunen (Metal)
Any particular reason ? Operatic, rich voice. Virtuosi in comparement with other in their scene (Diana Damrau technically is 100 better than tarja, but the heaviest piece she dared to sing was the aria of the night queen)
Favourite song by that particular artist ? Diana Damrau - Mozart, Magic flute, Aria of the night queen. Absolutely Fantastic. Tarja Turunen... Humm that's realllyyyy hard. I can't choose.
If someone said that artist cant sing, what song would you give them to listen to to prove them wrong ? 1st, if someone say something like that i ignore them, because you can't argue with fact. And if they do it means that they deserve a separation between their head and shoulders. 2nd Just what the previous question was.. It's sorta repetitive

...
Diana Damrau - Mozart, Magic flute, Aria of the night queen.
...
Ah, a view with some sense, anyone that can sing "Queen of the night" really is a singer, none of the other names in this thread could come close.
In the same vein, my vote would go to Placido Domingo, great voice, great technique and with the ability always to get to the hard of the song and communicate with the listener.
If I was pushed to name people from more popular genres then Freddie Mercury would be a clear winner, honourable mentions for Michael Bublé, Elton John and Paul McCartney.

My all time favorite vocalist is without a doubt Freddie Mercury!
Reason: Why wouldn't I love him and Queen!? He was simply the greatest frontman of all time. He was a musical genius with the voice of a God and the greatest stage presence I've ever seen!
Favorite song: Probably Radio Ga Ga,awesome song.
If you don't like him: Just listen to the genius complexity of Bohemian Rhapsody!

Hands down Jessie Lacey of the band Brand New. His writing style is fantastic. If you have or are depressed than you are guaranteed to be touched by at least one of the bands songs. Their older albums were more punk/powerpop in a sense. The later albums have become more alternative. My favorite album, The Devil and God Are Raging Inside of Me, literally does not have a single song that I would get tired of hearing. As for my favorite song on that album, it would be Jesus Christ.

I've seen a lot of great singers here in this thread like Ronnie James Dio and Ozzy, Steven Tyler, Alan Jackson, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Jon Bon Jovi.
There are a few who have yet to be mentioned however, like:
Steve Perry (Journey)
Kevin Cronin (REO Speedwagon)
Colm Wilkinson (Broadway productions)
As for my favorite song by Perry, it'd have to be either Seperate Ways (Worlds Apart) or Who's Crying Now
For Kevin I'd say either Roll With the Changes or Take it on the Run
As for Colm Wilkinson, I can't choose just one song. He was the star of both the London and Broadway production of Les Miserables and what a work of art his voice is.
For people who'd say that these artists can't sing, I'd tell them to go listen to any song by Perry because they are all amazing and for Kevin I'd say listen to "In my Dreams or Time for me to Fly", for Colm I'd say listen to "Bring him Home" from Les Miserables

Who is your favourite all time vocalist (or vocalists if you cant decide on one like me haha) ? Care Failure or Caroline Kawa (lead singer of Die Mannequin - same person/former is a stage name)
Any particular reason ? I love the sound of her voice. It has a lot of soul, but it's very fun to sing along to
Favourite song by that particular artist ? Intruder Interlude (more for the instrumentals than singing...since there aren't many lyrics) or Guns Not Bombs (best vocals) or Saved by Strangers (first song I've ever heard by them)
If someone said that artist cant sing, what song would you give them to listen to to prove them wrong ? Gun Not Bombs (she shows the majority of her range in this song)

I have a few:
Dani Filth from Cradle Of Filth, purely because i havent yet heard of another band with a vocalist who can scream like he can.
Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth/Bloodbath, simply because he has a brutal growl that appeals to me? lol
And finally, Jonathan Davies from Korn, because i cant find another vocalist in the genres i listen to who can put so much emotion into music, this may be because Korns music is fairly close to me but idk, Jonathan Davies is just awesome.

[Eyedea]
If someone grew up in a cubicle as Plato once suggested
They would only know the cubicle and not the world outside it
And they wouldn't view the cubicle as something geometric
We only know it's a cubicle because we live outside it
Now the one inside the cubicle can't comprehend his measurements
Because measurements are models made up for and by observers
Relative to their position on the outside of the cubicle
Though understand objectively so they can study further
If I grew up in a cubicle the walls are in my universe
I have no knowledge of the entirety like the outsiders do
If you follow what I say and can swallow the powdered water
Close your eyes and open your minds, this one's for you
And the brain equals a cubicle we'll never think outside it
Now inside wanna try to tie a diagram to modify them
I'm there as a hybrid of a body of a pirate
Of a soul that can fly without control
Realizing the brain ticks at six billion signals per second
And most of which are hidden and not given to the senses
Whether to do a few futile primitive tools to perception
Livin in a universal pool of first hand deception
The mind's job is to recieve the signals
And block out the ones that don't coincide with imprinted symbols
That way the information you obtained is recognized
Reality is thinkable and comparable to space and time
It makes a map of the territory that gives us
The topic of the Copenhagen interpretation of modern quantum
Physics which states we don't know the meal
We only know the menu that our brains tell us is real
We don't know the rules of our heads
From inside these cubicles we can't see the truth
No one really knows exactly what happens when we think
Therefore we can never really ever know anything
This is the consciousness revolution
You got the right to think
Don't think about it just do it
(repeats stanza til fade out)
I love these lyrics.

I don't have a favourite, but recently I have been listening to a lot of German music, and I think Till Lindemann has an amazing voice, his bass tones really suit the German language, and despite singing for a very heavy band, his vocals are very clean. He rolls his 'r's and naturally growls his 'ach's which add a lot of depth to an already outstanding vocal performance.

could pick heaps:
Bon Jovi
Jack Johnson
James Hetfield
John Lennon
Johnny Cash
Daniel Johns
Kurt Cobain
Bruce Dickinson
David FUCKING Gilmour
Bernard Fanning
Myles Kennedy
Jack Black
Lots more etc etc etc etc
But Mainly:
Ozzy Osbourne.
Simply because he is the god of his genre.
No one has come close to his vocal ability.
And the song(s) that prove it i feel are 'Changes' Momma I'm Coming Home' among dozens of others.
