OK, so today I got some results for Maths exams that I did a few months ago and I have to admit I did pretty fucking well, a lot better than I expected. Basically, the Maths GCSE in England is made up of three 'Units', the third of which is worth 50% of my GCSE and I'm doing it in the summer. Anyway, so in Unit 1 I think I got an A* and in Unit 2 I got an A in the non-calculator paper and an A* in the calculator one. This means that I need 93% in my upcoming exam to get an A* overall and only 60% for an A. So, when I get home all happy and pleased with myself I tell my Dad, expecting a 'well done' or 'I'm proud of you' or something. Do I get it? Do I fuck! Instead he goes on about getting an A*, tells me not to 'rest on my laurels' (I hate that saying) and I don't even remember getting a compliment from him, which has pissed me off quite a lot. I worked damn hard and I get great results and he doesn't even compliment me. Why do I even bother? Even my Maths teacher complimented me when telling me what I got and she's almost as bad as him. Sorry if this thread should be in Family & Friends (or whatever it's called), I thought it belonged in both.

In happier news, I got a conditional place at the college (not the American version of college, think of it as the place you go from 16-18 before University/College) and all I need to get in is a B in Maths and a C in English and like C's in everything else. Pretty fucking pleased with that

Anyway, help?
