My mom is EXACTLY like this. I can't imagine what would happen if she knew I was Bi. I dispise her at times for being so ignorant but I love her too. When she thinks of these people that like the same sex, she just goes "fucking perverts. These kinds of people should be hung upside down" or my dad would say "These guys are going against god" I can't get accepted in a dam city like this. You shouldn't tell him at all if you really care about what he'd do and will think about you. He obviously hasn't been in the shoes of the minority of people to see the truth of the world. Head up high kid.

He may not have ever really thought about it before, so if you tell him that you're gay he might change his mind. My best friend had a negative view of gay people, but when her friend came out she totally accepted it and now she thinks there's nothing wrong with it.
But on the other hand he might not change his mind. Either way, you can't escape your sexuality, and your dad will find out sooner or later.
You are who you are, and you can't change that. So dont worry about what your dad thinks, it's about you :)

I think everyone has made some great points here, and you can see you aren't alone.

My mum was like this (also a bit racist I thought) usually saying stuff about what we saw on telly. After I came out she's stopped her comments and I think it made her think a bit more about things.

Parents don't have all the answers they are just human beings, and your courage will hopefully make them grow up a bit.

thanks for all the replies guys, it really helps. But i think i'm going to keep in the closet till i can financially support myself, cuz my family will literally disown me, they make this clear everytime the bible is mentioned... but thanks for the support, i really appreciate it.

today during dinner i realised that he just has to comment on everything he hears. if he hears you talking, then count on a comment. i suppose its because hes a bible nut. i still love him though
