my xbox 360 just started turning off the other night and i am kinda worried cuz me and my bestfriend share it and idk what to tell him
anyways i recently moved it from where it was sitting and i placed it on its side rather then sitting straight up cuz u can do that if you want to
after i hooked it back up i turned it on to charge my opid and after five minutes it shut down
does anyone know why this is
i checked the plugs and everything and they were all attached
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

There should be a box adapter (Power) connected to the back of the xbox with a light on it. What colour is the light when it turns itself off on you?

its shows up green but then changes to orange when it goes off

Hmm well green and orange are the normal colours, its when it turns red thats the problem. Does there look like theres anything covering the fan on the back?

where is the fan at the bottom because its sitting upwards instead of flat on its side

Even better question, do the rings on the Xbox light up red at all? If that's the case, it could be a big problem. Unless only two quadrants light up, which is overheating. When you moved it, you could have blocked a fan, or you might have put it in front of an vent (I did once).

If neither of these are the problems, I do not personally know the problem.

It might be the red ring of death when it turns off does the front ring light up red if so you cant fix it with out opening it and fixing the guts. if not i suggest you buy a base with a ventilating fan and a back fan i have both and left it on for 4 days and it was fine

Last night it turned red in the middle of the night and idk why this happened cuz there is nothing blocking the fan so what's up with that

They won't show up on your screen. If you have Red lights around the power button, you have the Red Ring of Death. Basically, you're screwed.

Yeah. You got the Red Rings of Death.

Try unplugging everything and leaving it for a few hours.
If that dosent work, Call up Microsoft Support and send it over to them and they will repair it for you free.

Tbh it could just be the fact its continually been moved around all the time between you and your friend. Consoles are quite temperamental when it comes to that.

really i did not know this
so if me and him constantly drag it around( he also brings it out with his tv and we play it in the kitchen) it will affect the performance of the machine??

It can vary it. I noticed the same thing with mine. When i stopped moving it around it worked a lot better.

Seeing as you're moving it around alot, also make sure you are gentle. Xbox's are so easy to break, it's not even funny.

YUPP i figured that out
and since i told my friend about the excess movement damaging it he wont let me borrow it anymore cuz he thinks that i am the cause of the red rings of death which he has never seen and has no clue what they are
but hes being extra careful with it now
