As far as I know, smear tests shouldn't cause you any pain whatsoever. Relaxing is always a start though.

you may find a small discomfort, but it's worth it in the end to make sure you don't have cancer

i had one and it was extremely painful for me. like i was crying. im not sure what you can do other than talking to your doctor.

agreed. pap smears should not hurt. Just try relaxing. If that doesn't work...idk...maybe ask your doctor to use something so when she slides in its more smooth/easy?
