I'd very much like to purchase a laptop, to go in my room. I'd really love an Apple laptop, but I'm pretty strapped for cash, I'm willing to pay at most £350 which is around 660USD. I would probably purchase it from eBay, but if anyone has any better solutions, please provide them.

My proffered options would be:

Apple iBook G3 (Clamshell)
Apple iBook G3 (Dual USB)
Apple iBook G4
or perhaps an iMac G4I only really need it to sync my iPod, play music (obviously lol) and surf the internet (it's not completely necessary, but writing CDs/playing DVDs would be nice). Built in wireless would be helpful.

I'd be incredibly grateful if anyone could tell me if they've owned an iBook G3 (Clamshell) and whether they would recommend it to anyone else. Thank you for listening :)

Ive never owned a mac, but they are only really good if your into serous graphics, they are pretty expensive, and for your budget you can get a decent windows laptop, but its up to you really. macs are very good, but just pricey.

I know, but I'm just fed up of Windows. I know I've been sucked in by advertising campaigns lol, but I want a computer that just works. lol, it doesn't need to be really fast or have amazing graphics, which why I'd like an iBook G3 (Clamshell), plus they do look pretty funky lol.

I'd go for an iMac G4, but it's your laptop.

i used to use a clamshell G3 ibook, and it lasted me up until a few months ago when I got my macbook pro. It worked great for me, but i just couldn't keep using it since it had no battery life left in it and was just way too slow. You could probably get a clamshell ibook for about $250 (£129) from ebay.
I would say get the ibook G4, but thats just my opinion.

I'd build one myself and buy Mac OS X Tiger, but that's just me.

Get a non-mac laptop and run linux = problem fixed.
