ok so afew days ago i was listening to my friend play the guitar and fell in love. so now i want one and i talked to my parents and they said they would help me get the money, but i have always wanted to play the drum too... so i dont know what one to choose. im really leaning towards the guitar because of afew reasons, but now is my chance to finally get a drum set. if i got a guitar it wouldnt be for anythig special really more or less a thing to take my mind off of shit. anyways what should i pick...

Drums - hard to practice without annoying people with the noise, big and bulky and can't exactly take them to a friends house. But I'd imagine they are a GREAT way of getting stress out.

On the other hand i play guitar and i find that gets stress out well too, plus its easier to mix yourself into backing tracks etc while you practice which gets fun, and I am shy about other people hearing so I like that I can do all that on headphones ;-)

Yeah. I'd say definately don't get a really cheap one though. If you love the sound of it you'll be more likely to play it.

I'd say guitar. If you don't end up playing it a lot, keep it in nice condition and someone will be willing to buy it. If you do like it, you'll find a whole world of techniques, tricks, licks, riffs, etc. Guitar can be a simple instrument, but if you go further, you'll find a whole world of stuff most people don't bother with.

Though half of this statement is true, I would never recommend taking your stress out on a drum kit. The worse that can happen is that your one of your sticks could break and splinter you. If you hit the heads too hard, you could split them open (and they cost a good deal to fix).

I'd say to give it some time because you hearing your friend boosted your want to buy the guitar. I heard this accordion in a song once and I suddenly wanted one as it sounded so beautiful. From there just choose what your more confident with and what you like more.
