I'm Bi and haven't come out of the closet yet to anyone. My mom sees these people who are gay on TV or anywhere else and she always tells me if I were to be gay in anyway, she'd rip my head off. Obviously I know she's exaggerating but it seems that her reaction of me being Bi, could be worse then I think. My dad, who's been extremely religious after this one accident he had, says that lesbians and gays are somewhat demons and idiots, but it seems he'd accept me more than my mom. My question is that.. Would it be right to come out to them and risk my relationship with them?

I can identify! I live a not-so-gay-friendly area and have super but really religious family. I have had to be in church all my life and I would have to just go away and start over if everyone knew. My girlfriend knows some about my interest in guys and my parents knew about a couple of incidents but think I'm over it all. I just can't face everyone and come out. It's too scary. Good luck! Just hope it all works out for you.

This isn't a case of what's right or wrong to do. They may not take the news so bad because your bi, so naturally your still into girls and if they are logical they'll be thankful for that at least. But what really is important is that no matter what their reaction, you accept it, and accept yourself. At the end of the day, they just have to realise that all you've done is revealed a truth and it's their problem if they can't accept it. To answer your question a bit more fully, I don't think your really risking the relationship because no matter what they're still your parents but like I said, They just have to accept it and get over it.

That's very helpful. Thanks. It just seems that I'd rather hide it from them but someday I'll be able to tell.

And, since i was in a heated debate about it earlier, let your parents read this if you ever come out.

Of the 21,314 verses in the bible, only 2 speak of homosexuality. Those are stated, In the book of Leviticus.

"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them." Leviticus 20:13

"You shall not lie with a male, as with a women; It is an abomination." Leviticus 18:22

Well most of the laws in Leviticus, are ignored everyday!!! "Thou Shall not eat pork" Thou shall not eat shellfish." "Though shall not wear clothes of mixed fibers."

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure the pastor is wearing a tuxedo of cotton and polyester.

Great argument. Even though my parents are a bit ignorant, this could change their mind if I ever come to telling them. Thank You.
