Bands who sound good quiet

So, I got a nose complaint from my neighbor a couple of weeks ago which has had me on my toes (I'm sorry, but it's unreasonable to complain about moderately loud music just because you're home at two o'clock in the afternoon, but anyway...). So, most of the music I listen to is quite naturally loud stuff that tempts you to crank up the stereo, Nirvana, Mudhoney, Pearl Jam, etc.

This got me begging the question, are there any bands that maybe sound good toned down a little? The Dresden Dolls are a band I've discovered recently who don't compell me to turn up the volume. I know this is a weird question but it's had me thinking.

Ascent Of Everest is what you need. Very atmospheric soothing post rock.

Or even some Jesu. It's kind of a mixture of relaxing metal, if that makes sense which it probably doesn't. Really nice flow and feels dreamy. Can be good played loud but also good played quietly.

If I want quieter stuff I tend to go for Sigur Ros (apologies, I dont know how to get the right accents).Some Morcheba, maroon 5 stuff like that.
Or could you just get some good headphones?
And yes, Nickleback is also excellent at lower volumes, and I find my appreciation greatly enhanced by placing the speakers under several feet of water.
