View Full Version : Does asking hypothetical questions based on trash TV make a person look ignorant?

On the website Answerbag.com I have asked several question based on episodes of the Maury show. Then one user started answering the questions just to criticize me for asking the questions which she considers stupid, ignorant, and exploitative and nonsense. She said that the questions make me look like I cannot think for myself.
I don't really agree with her because I feel that even though the issues presented on the show are simply being exploited for the sake of the audience and at the expense of its guests, the issues are still serious and affect normal people every day. Though I admit that occasionally asked certain questions for the laughs.
EDIT:
Sorry; I meant to put this in Ramblings of the Wise. Can this be moved?

ive got Answerbag.com and tbh some of the people on there are very ignorant on there
and are very nasty aswell at times not like on here
i think if you wondering about the shows you shouldnt worry about what other pathetic users say
your there to try and find answers not to really make friends with people like that x

Can you give examples of what questions she criticized perhaps? If some were indeed ridiculous, then yes, they could make you look ignorant.

Honestly, I can see her point on those sorts of questions, but that's just me.

Can you explain, specifically?

I just find the questions like the one about your father impregnating your wife a bit far out there.

Do you mean you find it unlikely to happen? If so why do you feel that way?

I could see it happening in very rare/odd situations (wife is a nymphomaniac, for example), but otherwise I just don't see how it could happen.

Does the fact that a hypothetical questions is unlikely or even impossible mean that it is of no value?

It could have no value if it is impossible.

It could have no value if it is impossible.
Then to atheists, questions about God's existence would have no value.
As for answerbag... it's full of the obnoxious and people who have sex with their family, or so they say. Really, if you asked questions like that, you wouldn't get a sensible answer from those folks anyway.
