Well, the parents of a good friend of mine recently caught him with gay porn as well as everything on VT. He is straight, probably a bit curious hence the porn. How does he convince his parents that he is straight?

Why should he have to? They should accept him however he is, if he is straight where is their problemn? If he isnt it still shouldnt be a problem. There is no way of proving it. He could go out get a girl pregnant, I could do that (and I'm gay), no problem, but doesnt prove a damn thing. So his parents should grow up, stop being homophobic, and just trust him.

I agree with nick.
But if he's really desperate, he could use the old trick they show in the movies ... get a female friend to pretend they're dating. Or he could get a girlfriend. I wish him luck though, I know how it feel to have parents you can't talk to.

Wishful thinking at best. Let's face it, society isn't ready to accept gays fully. His parents might not even be homophobic, they could just be worried about their son's wellbeing in the society we live in. I just had a meeting the other night with a lesbian counselor at my school, along with several directors of the Sex Ed. program here, and we came to a consensus that teachers will have to include LGBT sexualities along with straight in their lessons. That's just the beginning of a long road to acceptance.
To the OP. If he really wants to convince them, tell them that the porn was from a spam email or something. Depending on how much they found, he would need to change this story to fit (i.e. my friend sent me this link and it was gay porn...no indication at all until i clicked it blah blah blah) and eventually they'll let it go.

The same thing happened to me. My dad thinks I'm gay because boys didn't do that when he grew up and I told him how times change and on my life I'm just curious

I have tried to act straight to keep family happy when I'm not. I sort of wish I had gotten caught when I was younger. Nothing is worse than having to be fake about your sexuality. If he was curious he should just admit it. Then if he really likes girls he needs to be open about that around his parents. Less pain for everyone even if it is hard to do.

He's not hiding anything, which means he cant cave into telling them that he is gay. His parents will believe him eventually, if not straight away.
