I found a Refurbished 80GB PS3 for $250.00 and I was wondering if that's a good price?
For an extra $50 I can get the 160GB, but it doesn't play PS2 games.

It plays certains ones. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PS3_backwards_incompatible_PS2_and_Playstation_games
Which also happen to be several I have and love.

I'd go for the refurbished one. At least you can still play games you own and like now. Its not going to be a waste.

Dude, I play my 80G PS3 that I go EONS ago, and it plays all my PS2 games so I'm not too sure what you're talking about. It's an okay deal, just make sure they test it in front of you that way you don't get all the way back to the house, play a game in it movie and it shits out. That would be pretty unfortunate.

Yeah, I will. I like making sure I'll have my stuff for a long time. The current PS2 Fat I have, I've had since I was 10yo and it was bought used, it's finally dying.
Also Ronnie, any PS3's over 80GB do not play PS2 games. Only PS1 and PS3. Sony is a strange company.

I don't need to lie lol, when my package finally gets here from when I sent it from my moms I'm going to take a picture of it, take a picture of the 80G and then show you games and take like a picture of each game I put in there, then take a picture of the TV. I've played both in there.

Inititially the PS3 was supposed to be "the supercomputer of gaming" unfortunatly it never caught on and their first year almost bankcrupt the subdivision of the company, so from there on the company had to gradually strip down the console to it's basics, removing things like USB drives, Chrome coating and eventually ps2 support all to bring the price down that little bit by ridding the system of functions that be the least missed by the consumer; eventually coming to a new system model altogether (reduced raw materials if you want to see it economically.)

Since the PS2 is still supported one can be bought very cheaply so I see no reason to complain about the dropped functionality initially being dropped as it had the full processors yadda yadda as a ps2 adding costs by around £50 ($100 at the time) and would fully recommend the extra 50 Dollars (£30 Brits, you know that's chips right?) for the 160GB "Slim" which is around 30% lighter, smaller and energy efficient (so I guess eventually that extra cost would repay itself.)

Don't mean to double post, but: the older model of the PS3 80GB still witheld its PS2 functionality, the newer model however did not. I have the 80GB that doesn't. Hopefully it will get YLOD (in the 5% chance it does) so I can get a new 160GB free of charge from the GAME insurance plan (they have to give you a new model and since only "slims" are manufactured..... But listen to me ramble on like a Sony rep.
