So the speakers blew out in my Skullcandy headphones... I'm raging a little right now, because listening to music is my life. Seriously like taking a crack pipe away from a crack addict. Anyone know of some really good headphones? I'd buy more Skullcandy stuff, but this is about the fourth pair I've gone through.

I think skullcandy are overpriced tbh. Sure & Sennheiser are good imho. I've got into in-ear headphones but for gaming and mixing I have some Beyer Dt250s (over ear) because they have a very neutral sound (i.e. dont mess with the mix) are robust and easy to repair (and a family friend runs a recording studio said a lot of studios use them for those reasons).

EDIT:
Just wanted to add a thought cos of something someone said after I posted ... the friend I mentioned thinks that headphones should ideally have a flat response. I.e. the mixing has been done by an expert for you, who wants you to hear the bass just as much as you do. Headphones which say they are like mega turbo bass and all that stuff ... its just marketing hype.

the ones i use are monster beats:tour, they are amazing in ear earphones, the cable has anti tangle technology and the bass is amazing. google them to see all the specs :)

Don't bother with all of these 'designer' faddy earphones / headphones. Most of them cost too much for what they do.

Just get a pair of basic Sennheiser (HD201 / HD202). You can pick them up for about £15 / £20 respectively and they both provide nice crisp, clear sound with decent mids and bass. They should do everything you need them to do.

And OP, if you've blown out 4 pairs of skullcandies, points out one of two things: 1) They were of shitty build quality. 2) You listen to your music wayyyyy too loud :P

I've had three pairs of skull candy headphones and all seem to have broke in less than a few months. I have airwalk headphones now there just as good and still work!!

Or they are just being misused, e.g. with some headphones you can't wrap them around the iPod/mp3 player as the lead is of poor quality as it connects near the jack.

Skull candy never lasted long with me, but tbh neither do apple ones. I've been through 5 pairs of those since i've had my ipod and thats been since march 09? Earphones are always going to screw up after a while, cause most of us tend to use them a lot more than they're supposed to be (Well thats the excuse i was given.) Whenever i've not had enough to buy some apple ones i used a basic panasonic (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9004289/Trail/searchtext%3EEARPHONES.htm) pair i bought for £5, they work just as well and often lasted me longer then apple or skull candy would.

Eh, while I somewhat agree with the above that they're all doomed to break at some point, every single earphone bud sets I've ever owned (except the ones so bad they are impossible to listen to) have broken, regardless of manufacturer (the most expensive I've had was somewhere about £30, mind.) My Sonys broke in one ear, as did some Creative ones I had a while ago. I also had some inear buds from a manufacturer I don't remember that broke after the first two weeks. If you're willing to pay for a good build, pay for one. You get what you pay for. Go for some Sennheisers.

Skullcandy comes with very good warranty though, you might just be able to ask for a new pair. I don't know how that works in full.

I never usually stray too far from a pair of EXSony in ear headphones, well priced and you honestly get the best quality from headphones i've used including my dad's Sennheiser cx300 which everyones seems to rave about, but the bass is at flat as a training bra. Skullcandy is basically the Justin beiber of headphones (all hype and no penis)

I've used the Sony EX 300's for about over a year, with no special treatment just common sense they've lasted me this long with no problems to wiring, sound etc. I bought them at £40 but are now around half that price anywhere i've looked (they where HMV bought, go figure.)

These (http://ifrogz.com/product/EP-MG) are what I use. They're great. The thing is, I keep good care of them. I have earbuds that I use for school and stuff.

Bose are great, they are also durable too. I had a pair of iBeats and they were amazing, but the wiring started to short and I had no sound in the right ear bud a few days later

I just bought Skull Candy headphones, they're great. I never listen to them up over half way, though, because I don't want to blow the speakers out as you have said. Right now my the volume is at 40%. The bass is great, sound quality excellent, and they are very comfortable. Just have to be careful with them. ^_^

Yeah, they're amazing quality, I'll give them that. I haven't had headphones that sounded better, but they are soooo fragile

I personally like Skullcandy brand because of the style and the quality it gives. And yeah^... take care of them and they could last you for quite a while.

For my computer I have these, I've had them for like.. over 3 years I think lol.. But now they're broken pretty much.. The mic is almost falling off, one ear doesn't work and the other ear is pretty bad now.. But they've been great and comfortable! I only use them during night time, when my sister is sleeping though, otherwise I have speakers. But you can hear every sound in my room to her room, so that's why.. Plus she has her bed like... 1 meter? from my computer with a wall in between, lol..

Otherwise I have those, and they're pretty much great since they have a flex winder.. So you never get that tangle on the cable.

Edit:
Bought Steelseries 4H today. They are amazing. Totally comfortable and great sound.
