Um, no. Paramore did not break up. 2 of the founding members left, but that was it. Get your facts straight. And I don`t understand why the "majority" here doesn`t like them. They play good music.

Because Paramore is one of the best examples of what the mainstream can shit out on a yearly basis that gets paid. What makes Hayley Williams any better than, say, Beth Gibbons of Portishead?
qnUFhrmk3Os
Post any Paramore song and Beth Gibbons will dominate Hayley Williams every single time.

I`ve never heard of Portishead. Besides, Hayley has a great voice. People make it seem like they practically mumble or smash guitars and such instead of actually playing them.

What about for the fact that it's generic modern rock? There's nothing out there about their music, it all sounds the same, just like everything else out there. If they went to a more experimental stage, I'd consider listening to them. But expecting that is just too much to ask for.

You hate mainstream, but not paramore. That sounds a little odd, because they pretty much represent mainstream pop rock. Can you define some artists you think are "underground" and not mainstream?
I`ve never heard of Portishead. Besides, Hayley has a great voice. People make it seem like they practically mumble or smash guitars and such instead of actually playing them.
You should listen to Portishead. Beth Gibbons is an amazing experimental artist who not only has one of the best voices ever, but she has a really interesting style of making her music. She pretty much created the genre called "Trip Hop". The first album "Dummy" was included in the 1001 albums to hear before you die. That should mean something. Her music is revolutionary. I don't see paramore being that important in ten years.

Well fwiw I'm somewhere between "meh" and "good riddance" whatever happens to them.
Spookily I was just listening to Radio 1 (uk) and was thinking "what the hell is this crap" then the DJ (Annie Mac) said "And that was Paramore" and then I read this thread title. So I thought I would read the thread.
Personally I think I've been tuning this out or turning it off cos somehow I knew the name but hadn't linked it to any of there music.

I love Paramore. Their music makes me very happy and have helped me get through personal issues. It's sad that they broke up.. but I still have all of their music, and that's what matters.
I can see why people don't like them, but I just disagree. Probably because I have a personal connection to their songs.

I love Paramore, or should I say I "loved". I think hayley is an amazing singer but all her fame has gone to her head now.
I saw them in November and she was very up herself.
I think that the farro brothers where the only two that managed to stay routed to the ground and that from what i've heard of how Hayley treated them, they had every right to leave.
I can't wait to here there new band though :) Not looking forward so much to the new Paramore.

Yeah. You realize the first album was in 1994? And Portishead isn't over, so you didn't have to use the word 'was'.
Probably because I have a personal connection to their songs.
This just sounds too bizarre to me. How could someone have personal connection to music that isn't even that deep? I could never understand that.

Wow, someone actually see's what I see I'm not some kind of senile freak in this music world.
I find them to be very shitty to start off with. So you throw in someone with good vocals, but look at the disaster of a crew they really had, and then one goes off and gets selfish? Pfft, that's no crew/band. In it for the money.
I have been and always will be an 80's freak. Some people may say that they know the 80's music like I do. Well, let's say I have an actual personal connection to my music. It's what helps me step out of my body. It's actually what helped me get through what I went through as a child and now. I can name songs off the top of my head that can express any kind of feelings or emotions that I have. Real emotion, real music.
I don't feel that nor Paramore or any other band that I hear today will match what I listen to. Call me(Go west) bias, but it's just how I feel about music. I need to feel those chills when I hear songs come on. I need to feel how they feel and not how they feel about having sex with their "hoes" and getting all their "money", music has and probably never will be what it used to be. I have taken the time to hear a few Portishead tracks, it's not too bad if I actually do say so, but it's just not how I will ever feel about my 80's. /bringontheflame.

I don't love Paramore, but I don't absolutely hate them either. I think they're far too overrated, though. To me the best bands are the ones that no one has heard of, the ones that actually have meaning in their songs and can really touch you. Paramore just doesn't do that for me, so I can't really appreciate their music.

Music is a form of art. When I listen to music I want to 'see, taste, feel, touch' the music. Music should give you a canvas in your mind representing the song. Paramore is simply Pollock without any purpose to splashing the paint on the canvas.

Paramore? Compared to 'lessor ones'? Top 40? Good? You best be trolling.
You know that most artists that are making original and creative things are in the underground right? Mainstream only accepts the following genre's - The bad side of rap, alternative rock, some dadrock, modern country, and pop. That's pretty much it. The mainstream limits you from loads of music.
For you to say the top 40 is the best because it's the top 40 is absolutely insane. You know how many shitty artists have made the top 40, and then are not given a fuck about a year later?

I do yes, i'm suprised you couldn't make the assumption when I said Paramore where pratically a skid mark on rock.
And I stand by that bands like Pink Floyd should always be used to compare to the likes of Paramore to help people stuck in the charts realise they're not 7 anymore and look at other music.

Although I personally love Portishead more...Massive Attack came out with their first album three years earlier. I dont doubt their innovation, it's just that crediting her(or even the entire band) with basically creating most of the genre seems puzzling to me.

Ok, I'm throwing in my opinion here.
I really liked paramore. But people that tries to preach paramore down other people's throats really piss me off. I don't like most stuff in the top 40, because it all sounds exactly the same. Sure, paramore might not have been the most original band ever, but I still liked them. I'm not going to cry over it, they're just a band, you can still listen to their music if you really want to.
If you don't listen to their music and you don't like them, then I don't see why you seem so interesting in this thread. I get very annoyed by girls that don't shut up about justin bieber, but if someone made a thread about him, I wouldn't jump in and say, "ERRRR. I HATE THAT GUY, HE'S SOOOOOOOO GAY." Seriously? Are you still on about chords? They obviously play more than 3 chords. You wouldn`t know, because I bet you haven`t even taken the time to listen to at least 3 of their songs. While you're right about how no music from today will match music from "back in the day", but some of today's music isn't all that bad. Those songs about sex, money and stuff are usually the top 40 genre that the "in" crowd listens to. If you go beyond that to find singers like Regina Spektor, A Day to Remeber, or Of Montreal, you'll see that all of today's singers aren't that bad.
