I can't get over it. I keep replaying this incident in my mind over and over again, and im really sad about it because i know someone loved this cat, because i doubt it was a stray. Let me tell you what happened. Okay, so where i live it snows often, and the main streets are usually alright to drive on because of all the salt and sand they put down, but the side streets are really really icy. So i was driving home, and i was on a side street. Anyways, so im going about 20 or 25 on a straight road (i go a lot slower going down a hill) and this cat runs out in front of me, so i slammed on the brakes but i just kept sliding until i hit him. i was hoping i would just go over him but that never happened. I tried to swerve away from it, but when i braked and tried to turn at the same time my car just kept going straight and i hit him with the wheel of my car. When my car finally stopped, i got out to go look at him and he was alive but died a couple mins later. I was so sad, i was even crying, because i also have a cat. Its like have PTS, that disorder that soldiers get from being in combat. I hate driving in the snow, and having no control, its the worst feeling ever, besides killing a cat.

I can understand that that was traumatic for you, I would hate it too if it happened to me. But you cant blame yourself, it was the conditions and there was nothing you could do once the car lost grip.

Wow i really feel for you. I saw a cat that had been runover by someone else (already dead) and i couldn't get it out of my head for weeks.
Look at it this way, if you didn't feel anything you'd have to be a real heartless and horrible person, so its actually a good sign that you feel like you do: any normal 'nice' person would feel the same.

Well, you just need to keep telling yourself that it wasn't your fault.
Death is a part of life. It happens to every living thing at some point, and unfortunatly sometimes accidents happen and it is due to someone else. It doesn't make you a bad person, it's just an accident like any other.

I'm sorry this happened to you. :( But it definitely wasn't your fault. You sound like a kind person who would never do anything to intentionally hurt something or someone. You tried to stop and to prevent it, and that's what matters. Don't blame yourself or feel guilty, because there's nothing that you could have done.

Hey, you did all you could to prevent it, right? So it's totally not your fault!
You shouldn't feel guilty, cause you didn't do anything wrong.

It's not your fault and thats for sure. First thing is to reassure yourself of that. The conditions and such were not in your favor (not sure how hard it is to drive, no ice on roads here). You done everything in your power to avoid the cat. And you were with the cat when it died, so it did not die alone. That would have been of great comfort to the animal

You cant save everything. Sometimes, its just their time. Icey roads have no traction, you could have seriously been hurt if you'd tried anyharder.

Its not as if you did it intentionally. You did everything you could to avoid hitting the cat. Its just one of those unfortunate things about life. I'd hate to go through it myself, it must be horrible, but there is nothing you could of done.

If you didn't do it intentionally then... Well... First, don't be that hard on yourself, because it wasn't you fault. It could be everyone, this time you had bad cat. But i feel more sorry for the cat, because it really is awfull. But it doesn't mean that it's your fault. Think about it as if it was someone else who did it. Talk about it with friends and afamilly and you willget better.
