Christmas gifts

Christmas gifts both large and small
lay beneath the tree,
yet the present most desired
was not there to see.

Books, gift tokens, ready cash,
given with best intent,
socks, not really, never mind,
very kindly meant.

But this Christmas I received
a very special gift,
though not wrapped in shiny foil
it gave my heart a lift.

Unexpected, welcome yet,
a gift sent from above?
Father Christmas brought to me
the gift of my true love.
