I am constipated, have been for as long as I can remember, but does anyone have any suggestions of possible treatments or something to reduce the symptoms?

well one way without laxatives is too lift up all the toilet seets and stand on the front of the rim and squat down and pray you dont miss.

this worked for me when my mom was on her 'natural remedy' kick

Squatting position is a good way to start defecating. I usually defecate in this position... on a seat toilet... anyways:

Instead of using laxatives. Try to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and green leaves. Whatever fruit and vegetable is there, just take it. Take a lot of it.

Try apple; apple has pectin, it is a cellulose-based matter which acts as an insoluble fiber - which is very good for your stomach.

If you don't like citrus fruits, try to take sugary ones, like sugar oranges and mandarin. Lettuce works as an excellent source of soluble and insoluble fiber. It is like a lubricant for your tracts.

Nuts are one of the best source of insoluble fiber. Just take a handful of them. Pistachio, almond and white cashew are good.

Abstain from flesh, carbs, and dairy product and junk food for a while and take my advice.

I am sure you are like "Woah! man, that's too much, I am already full of stuff.", but no, it will work.

Also make sure you do some bodily exercises, like stretching and jogging for a moment, that will help a bit.

And more importantly, and because it is winter and we do not lose a lot of water, we tend to drink less. Take that habit out, and start to drink water every now and then. But don't drink that much that you start to bloat.

Work on this, and see how progress.

How long is 'since I can remember'?

If its a permanent thing for you it might be a good idea to see a doctor about it. Irritable Bowel Syndrome is something that came into my head when you said that but generally it varies. Try to eat a bit more food containing fibre. Generally that usually helps a lot.

I would refer to a diatrician for problems such as these

All my life I believe.

Then you need to go to your doctor and tell him that you've been constipated all your life.

He will then refer to on to the relevant specialist who will perform further tests to figure out why you are seemingly constantly constipated. The doc will then see if there is anything they can do to solve the problem such as surgery / drugs.

All my life I believe.

If you were constipated all your life you'd be dead.

Stewed apricots, prunes, and heaps of orange juice. I just had a bowl of stewed apricots, and it surely gave me a total cleanout.
