So....

You may have read my earlier posts about my misbehaving graphics card...
I now have another issue:
The DVI on my card doesn't work (?).

Here are my computer's stats:

openSuSE 11.3
nVidia GeForce FX 5500
Samsung SyncMaster 204B
GNOME desktop

I am running with VGA right now at:

1600x1200 resolution
60Hz refresh rate(although GNOME claims 50Hz)

I wish I was able to use the DVI port: that's why I bought this card.

Whenever I go to the Monitor config, I get what you see in monitorconfig.png

Check if you get anything on screen during the BIOS POST sequence if the screen is plugged to the gfx card using the DVI connector instead of the VGA one.

If you get nothing, then try with another DVI cable; if it still fails, you probably got something defective with the screen and/or the GFX card, and there is nothing you can do apart replacing the non-working part.

If the problem occurs only under X, then posting your xorg.conf file as well as your Xorg log file (/var/log/Xorg.0.log for me) here would help finding what's not working.

I

Thats more likely the problem. A DVI issue would most likely be a hardware issue not a software issue

Check the DVI output, lead, input on the monitor and the monitor itself

[-]the dvi has never worked during post.
it kinda worked when i still ran fc14, but at a crappy resolution.
i'll check when i'm on my computer again.

oh, and when i tried win98, dvi also didn't work. that doesn't use x, at least not as far as i know...[/-]

Never mind, I fixed it. It was in a different control panel.
Thanx anyway, ppl
