Do you think dressing well is important? Why?

I'm not talking about going to a wedding, or performance, or somewhere where you're obviously supposed to be dressed nicely.

I mean if you go to the mall, the store, or out on the town, or to a casual party, or to school..."regular" places

I always dress to impress. Myself, mostly, others less so.

Everyday stuff: T-shirt, jeans, Converse, hoodie, hat. Done.
Work (Tech crew): All black.

Welcome to my everyday wardrobe.

I dress well for myself.

Everyday: Jeans, t-shirt (typically white v-necks), New Balance shoes, maybe the occasional zip up hoodie. Done.

Pretty much all I wear. If it's a special occasion, I'll wear a nice long sleeve dress shirt, khakis, and a nice pair of dress shoes. But that's pretty rare. I don't dress to impress anybody. I dress in what I'm comfortable in. If people aren't impressed, it ain't my problem.

As Sage said, I dress to impress myself. If I look nice to myself, I will wear the clothing.

I don't have to be dressed perfectly but I like to be nice and have my hair done

Weeping
January 2nd, 2011, 09:39 AM
Well, I'll wear pretty much everything that's comfortable for me.
And what's nice-looking in MY opinion.

Then if someone think I look crap, that's not my problem.

Sweet dude I am the same way. I dress to impress and also for myself. I can't stand to look unappealing or untidy. I always dress nice and presentable.

t-shirt, jeans, hoodie, converse, done.
I make sure the hair is decent but other than that I don't really care. Labels fair enough, I may get a Pair of Levis etc. but all that queing up for hours to get into a Hollister shop is just bull shit.

It's very important to me because I'm pretty much confident when I'm wearing a cute outfit. It doesn't matter to me tho, how someone else dresses.

It depends on my mood.
Usually, if I'm in a good mood, I'll try to dress nice. If I'm in a bad mood, I probably won't try as hard.

I tend to be pretty lazy, so a pair of jeans, a shirt and hair tied back is a somewhat usual attire for me.

Usually my version of dressing nice is different from other people. But I do try to dress nice, wherever I go. Never know who you could see or meet. First impressions mean everything.

Of course, i put a lot of thought into the outfits i wear. Some people think its really girly, but it doesn't really matter what they think because in the end i will look better than you :P Or atleast thats they way i look at it haha i may not be true, but whatever makes me happy.

I dont pay much attention, its the same thing everyday whereever I go. Jeans, t-shirt, a hoodie, unless its cold I wear my CarrHart, my tan Timberland boots, and a hat. Redneck? I know. I try to stay clean but usually doesnt happen, half my jeans have greae stains on em along with some of my shirts and hats, haha.

I wouldn't be able to go outside if I haven't dressed up to impress :P

Sad I know, but I absolutely have to look good (Well I hope I do anyway :D) wherever I go

IF i dont think i look good, regardless of what anybody says, i wont go out. I have to look good, even if its only to me. :P

Waaaaaaaaat! I have to dress well. Just to impress my self and other people. I feel mad confident when I wear some good clothing. I mean, like, I'd die if I dressed "NORMALLY"

MrZero

My version of dressing well is similar to say...cosplay, i only put effort into funny spur of the moment look ideas but i only wear it like i would a costume, it's not meant to represent me. But i very rarely do that.

Mostly i look really sloppy, since i dislike the "trendy" shops and such.
But it's bothering me more and more how people seem to react to that when they meet me :/ I'm starting to reconsider it.:whiteflag:

If anyone feels like helping out, i think i could use a bit of a crash course on this stuff

I think it's important to dress like you're describing who you are. Not "well." I take one look at someone in a suit and I think "Either there's something really important going on or they're a really boring person..." I take a look at someone in Ambercrombie and I immediantly know either they like mooses and the word Ambercrombie to be on their shirts or they're a "fit in with the crowd, I want to look like part of the clone army from Attack of the Clones" type.

I love the way you put that.
I've never thought about it that way, :oops:as odd as it sounds i don't think i've every imagined how "I" would look like in realistic terms. It's always cartoons in my head - i must give this some thought.

I normaly try to dress nice or at least very clean. I have mostly blank tee's, some are v-necks and jeans about everyday. I would hate to buy, let alone wear, any shirt that just says "American Egale" across it just to fit in(no offence). I would put more effort into it if it was easyer to find close that i fit well in.

It's important for me to look "good" I wear what I want though and I dont follow the crowd so I don't know if I dress well. I never wear the same outfit more than once though and fit is an important thing to me. I think people should really at least make an effort to dress well. You don't have to have the "the trends" and the latest and greatest stuff and you can definitely wear the same outfit more than once. You just gotta know that PJ's belong in the house. proportion is key to dressing well. You throw out a shirt when it's already damaged and for goodness sake people don't wear the same hoodie or jacket for a month. I would say week, but maybe im being too mean.

Looking good on the outside is great because it makes people want to know if you're also good on the inside

My opinion on this varies from day to day.
Usually, I don't dress to impress, I just dress in a way that's comfortable to me since I'm not really comfortable in my own skin. But when a day comes that I do feel comfortable wearing anything, I'll wear nicer clothes and spend more time on my make up and accessories.

Great post, and I would agree that it is made. This first impression is so important. If you are a well-dressed, and seems to bring people immediately assume you are. I never heard the mantra that people have posted, but I lived in it my whole career. How to wear an attitude makes a difference, presentation, and how to do it yourself.
