So, for christmas, I am recieving a new Macbook with 2G Intel chip and 1G (maybe 2G) of Ram and either 80G or 120G of harddrive space. right now I have a 2 year old Alienware PC with a 3.6G intel chip, 1G RAM, and about 100G of hard drive space, which is almost completely full. So, I know that when you get a new mac it lets you data transfer from your old Windows PC to your new MAC. I also know there is apparently a program called Parallels that lets you run windows and Mac OS X side by side on the same machine. I was sondering if that would let me play windows only games (Such as CS:S) on my mac. Is this possible? and also, if there is any other advice at all on switching to a new mac from a windows PC, and freeing hardrive space, etc, please post it. Thanks.

Is the hdd being too small your only problem? Sounds like your alienware is plenty fast enough. If you just want hdd space then you should buy a new hdd.

kkk...there is a thing in your computer to free up space...now....ill tell you the directions to do this. go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools> Disk Defragmentizer. Once u get there click on disk defragmentizer. when open you should see a button at the bottom that says Analyze click that and it will tell you if you need to defragmentize your hard drive or watever it is...lol....once it tells you if u need to there is a button that says Defragment....click on that then wait...frees up some space...and made my computer a little faster

Good choice of switch over, macs are awesome, i'm on my MacBook Pro right now. The best program to have windows on your mac aswell is something called 'BootCamp'. It's availiable for free from the Apple website www.apple.com. When you do have it running it's bloody fast, i put it on my mac and then installed Steam and waited the three hours it take for it to update and when I ran CS:S I had all the video settings on high and my ping was only about 20. Well enjoy your mac, i've posted some pretty useful keyboard shortcuts below:
function + F9 = Tiles evey window that you have open so you can select whichi one you want to make active
function + F10 = Tiles every window which is running in the current program which you have open
F11 = Moves all windows to the top of the screen and shows you your desktop, press F11 again to reverse this
Apple Key + Q = Close the current program you have open, ends the entire process of it
Apple Key + W = Close the current winow of a program you have open but not the actual process
Apple Key + M = Minimizes the current window you have open
Well enjoy your mac!

thanks, i thought bootcamp might work, but i didnt know if i was allowed to have steam on my new mac hardrive and only use it when i switch to bootcamp. I had heard of a 3rd party program called parrallels that apparently lets you run windows right next to OS X.
